I read this book out of loyalty to Butcher. I have no real love of high fantasy novels but I think this one is an exception. There are a few things I would change and it's much less awesome than the Dresden Files novels. But it is very good and I will read the second one.

More politics than Codex Alera #1 and it had better blot twists. I feel like the series gets more interesting in this one than in the first one. I'm actively looking forward to the third one where I was still sort of not sure when I finished the first one. I'll hand it to Butch, he's great at world building.
