THIS WAS SO HAPPY!!!! Black sapphics getting a happily ever after with no weird third act break up!!!! I loved every minute and every character.

This was surprisingly PG? Anyway, it was cute and I definitely enjoyed it, but there was barely any payoff. Like they both admit they’re in love with each other and then that’s the end?

I put off reading this for ages and I’m so sad I did.

FSOTUS (lol) and a prince fall in love. Literally I don’t need to say anything else. Enemies (???) to lovers and all of my favorite tropes, including the MC not realizing he’s queer. “Everyone jacks off with their best friend, etc” had me cackling. True to lived experience and just so relatable.

I read some reviews criticizing the politics though. That they weren’t realistic or something. I’m sorry, but it is EXHAUSTING being a queer person and maybe I want to escape to a happy alternate universe where things went a different way in 2016??? A royal family member talking about returning stolen property and not wanting to be a royal. And a female POTUS (who is also a super supportive mom) and a non white MC and frank discussions and real connection. It’s a book. Let me have this.
I KNOW it’s far fetched, but let people enjoy things.

I’m a sucker for friends to lovers. Add a slow burn, two traumatic pasts, and chronic illness and I’m going to be waaaayyyyyy too invested. Anyway, this was great.

I appreciated the conversations around feeling like a burden to friends and family who aren’t chronically ill, but that Mia eventually figured out that Noah wanted to be there with her and wanted to hold her hand- she wasn’t holding him back from his dreams.

It was fine. I listen to books like this during my workday because I don’t have to pay close attention and they’re usually enjoyable. This wasn’t my favorite of the ones I’ve read.
I laughed out loud at some of the dialogue because it was so unrealistic or out of no where.

I don’t know if it was the writing or the narration, but the kid was really annoying? I just didn’t love most of the characters. I enjoyed learning about beer and seeing the guy creating new flavors and stuff though

It’s been a few weeks since I finished the book and I still can’t decide how I feel about it. For it being a “romance” book, there was very little payoff. We literally don’t see them on together, or on a date, or talking in real life until the very end.

Also wow at her ex-boyfriend-turned-sister’s-fiancé????
I liked the hidden room though.
