Not me sobbing over Gorby!!
Forced proximity, second chance romance, holiday love confessions, the works!

Anyway, this was cute! I don’t know if the fact that this read was after some terrible books, but I was totally charmed by the entire thing

*Shrek voice* “I was just reading a uhhhh…poorly written, horny book”

Jesus Christ. What was this and why was it THIRTEEN HOURS long. And why did I have to hear so much about fucking blowjobs. “Your Christmas gift to me was letting me cum inside you without a condom” Gross. GROSSSSSS. And people are swooning in all the reviews about Nate being a perfect bf and everything excuse me while I puke.

This is a book I purchased on Libro as a “fun read” and had to suffer through because I’d paid money for it.
And not to be super extra about it, but for all the fucking they did, they never fucked when he was in his hockey uniform or she was in her leotard which feels like a missed opportunity that tiktok would have EATEN UP.
Also, I thought that Nathan was gonna have to skate with her in the final, which would have made more sense with the rest of the book.

Oh, and we’re just going to throw this little diddy into the epilogue where the FMC is pregnant (and her therapist who has been her therapist for like 14 years says that pregnancy suits her????): “with an Olympic gold medal winner as a mother and a Stanley cup winner as a father….” (paraphrased) ???????????? NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE THIS WAY

You know when you buy a book for $3 and you feel obligated to finish it even if you don’t love it? Yeah.

I hate finishing an Emily Henry book!  How can any book I read next compare to the beautiful world I just left??
Anyway. This was great.

I also need it noted that I imagined Ashleigh as Kathryn Hahn. So if this book is adapted to a movie at some point, Kathryn better be that casting director’s FIRST call.

God, I loved it. The flower symbolism, the believable miscommunications between two neurodivergents, the love and support of their friends!

I have no notes beyond: hot DAMN 🥵

Maggie Moves On

Lucy Score

DID NOT FINISH: 70%

Jesus Christ. I wanted to stop reading after about 30% but decided to tough it out. I can’t listen to Silas be an annoying and controlling man-child for another second.
Maggie didn’t tell you she KIND OF has a sister? Boohoo. Maybe you’re not entitled to know every bit of family trauma when you’ve known her for a few weeks and basically coerced her into dating?????
So gross. So controlling. I feel so icky.
