This book follows Griz, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world and when a stranger comes and steals Griz’s dog, Griz will do anything to get her back. This is the start of a voyage going into the big, strange world.
I finally picked this up on audio, after getting a sampler on netgalley without realizing it was a sampler. I did really enjoy this one, I liked the writing and the main character Griz. I liked all the reflections upon our world, since Griz lives in a world where one can only see the aftermath of everything we built and had. I loved Griz’s love for dogs, and I was very intrigued to see where the journey would take us. The story is told of the POV of Griz, but like Griz is writing it down so there is a lot of foretelling of what will happen (since it has already happened for Griz). I don’t mind this way of writing a story like this, but all the foretelling got tiring after a while, because sometimes it ruined the surprises that were coming. However, the end really surprised me, and there were things there I felt I should have seen coming, but I was too distracted by everything else! I did enjoy the story, but it did also remind me of a lot of other post-apocalyptic story. Every story of course has something original, but it still felt like something I had seen or read before. 3.5/5 stars.

Frida in America is a non-ficition book following Frida and her time in America and how that time evolved and affected her as an artist!
I always found Frida’s life fascinating and interesting. She was a spectacular woman, that had to a live in a time where being a woman and an artist was not easy. She dwelled into subjects like sex, race, fertility and culture. There is many sides of her life I did not know, and I’m very happy I do now. However, reading a nonfiction was very dry for me that is not used to it. There was some parts that really flew over my head, and in my arc version at least there was no pictures of the painting/drawings that the author wrote about, which made it kind of hard to follow (and I had to google them myself). I don’t know if they are in the finished version of the book though. Overall I do feel like I learned a lot, but the writing was very very flat, which made me not what to pick up that book sometimes because I was bored. Though some parts was as I said very interesting! I don’t regret reading it and I would recommend it for anyone who is interested! 3/5 stars.

The Electric Heir is the sequel to the The Fever King, and we follow Noam who believes Dara dead is Lehrer new protegee. He is trying to find a way to stop the magical disease from spreading. Dara is however alive, and is coming back to kill Lehrer once and for all.
There was a lot of shocking turns in this book and it really starts with a bang. It has a lot of darker themes in this and if you intend to read it I recommend looking up content warnings on the author’s website. I liked this much better than the sequel, I was used to the world and I really enjoy the characters. However I found myself questioning characters choices and the plot. There are parts of the plot were I really questioned why it was even in there, because it didn’t really affect anything else happening in the book. And then we have the end… it was very quick and very unsatisfying! I was very disappointed haha. But! I still love the characters and the magic is awesome. Overall a fun, diverse and intense dystopia duology! 3.5/5 stars.
