Hazel and Holly are two sisters and witches, they try to find their father who has bound their dead mom's soul to earth so she can't move on.

The premise sounds awesome, but the execution could've been much better! I found myself being bored and not really enjoying myself throughout the book. The magic system was interesting and I did start to care about the characters after a while, but the story was too all over the place and didn't carry any weight. I did find some parts to be totally okay, but the book just seemed soooo long and at a point I just wanted it to be over. 2/5 stars!

Five Midnights is a horror novel set on Puerto Rico, where in a group of five childhood friends, some of them has started getting killed. We follow Javier (one of the five friends) and Lupe, who travels to Puerto Rico every summer to visit her uncle and aunt. They team up trying to figure out what that is happening.

While this is pitched as a horror novel, not once in the book did I feel scared or creeped out. The plot was too predictable for me, where it was never a question “if” something would happen, but “when”. It was therefore very boring and not that entertaining. The book also dives into themes like drug and gang activity, but not as deep as I would want. I did however like the setting and the questions Lupe brings forward about identity. 2/5 stars.

Kingdom of Exiles is set in a magical world, where charmers can tame different beasts that also has different abilities. Leena is one of these charmers, but has been exiled from the charmer’s city and lives by selling beasts. One day assassin’s are sent after her, she fights her assassin and demands to see their leader. That is when she meets Noc, they go into a deal: she will provide the assassin’s guild with four beasts and they will not kill her.

This is a book that a wonderful world, I enjoyed every worldbuilding I got. It was just too bad that it was overshadowed by all the romance. I don’t hate romance or anything, but this was way too insta-lovey for my tastes. I wish the book had more of a plot focus, and much more of the world the author has created. There was also way too many predictable storylines, where nothing ended up surprising me. However, the book was still entertaining and I had some fun with it! 2.25/5 stars.
