This was solidly okay. For a mermaid tale... It was certainly lacking the tail.
If I read something with mermaids I want to see mermaids. While it was heartwarming and had some fun characters, I just couldn't feel super invested given the lack of being undersea and the main side character being a real comedic pain in the but.

This story is aggressively average. Some moments are really fun and feel inspiring. But, overall the characters feel pretty lackluster and confused in their motives. The plot is thick with various levels of plot twists but they all fall flat and have confusing explanations. The whole vibe is fun and the world feels interesting, but you don't really get to see as much of that as you would hope to in a longer Time Princess book. Overall, just super mid.
Enjoyed the overall story. But if felt very awkward to experience it through the chosen main characters eyes. I would have preferred getting a better insight into this story from another point of view.
