2022 - I can see why 13 year old me rated this book 4. It is full of promise with an interesting premise, plot, and a world full of potential. But at the end of the day the plot was basic, the character development didn't exist, and nothing on the page felt like it breathed. Okay book with a lot of potential. But just not the kind of top tier writing and fun I expect from Funke given her work in the Inkheart trilogy and the breathtaking Thief Lord. A solid 3.

Charming and fun to see Gina and the Prince develop their relationship further. The main story didn't give them as many moments alone as I would have liked, to see their relationship be deeper and more meaningful. I feel this really rounded out that desire that I had.
Eh. Didn't really care for the story going on here and it didn't really feel like it added anything or gave anything that I wanted after reading the original story. It's fine but wasn't for me.
Very solid and fun. Several fun moments and I enjoyed the protagonists being able to choose so much of how she wanted to proceed. The various all felt very in-line with whatever choices led to them and I always enjoy that.
I will update my review after book club... But I think for me this just had so much potential with no real follow-through.
Update after book club... I still say a ton of potential with no real follow-through. I just wanted to see people fall in love. I wanted to actually see the characters grow together. I wanted to actually see how the concept worked. I wanted... more.

Very solid. Quite a lot of fun, good characters, and more thoughts to come when it is midnight and 1 minute after finishing the book.
I love Greek myths and anything adjacent to them. So with that in mind, I enjoyed this read. However, it wasn't the most interesting retelling I've come across and while I enjoyed 2 of the 3 women's perspectives, I really didn't enjoy the perspective of the title character. It overall was fun but nothing crazy.
Damn. I love this universe. I don't even really like the character this was written in the perspective. But it felt so natural, so her, and Muir is a writer extraordinare!
I cannot rate and review this with any coherency. It was a hell of a ride. But Muir made me enjoy immensely one of my least favorite perspectives (2nd person) and made me intrigued by the madness of it all. The ending was sincerely unsatisfying as I just need the third book immediately! There was no conclusion, there was only being pulled deeper into the world Muir has crafted and presented with fantastic writing. Truly cannot wait to read the next installment!
