I just really wasn't a fan of this story. The main character was fine. But she was a little overly clueless. The main issues I had were with pacing and the humor feeling really odd and disjointed. It just wasn't my kind of book. A disappointment really is I love mythology and myth retellings typically.

This book was decent overall, but to be real I found it to be quite confusing in the last half as the ideas of how to deviate from the original story felt really half-baked. I didn't expect a happy ending, but I expected at least 1 or 2 in this choose-your-own-adventure to feel impactful or at least leave me feeling at peace with the ending... none of them did. But I did enjoy several of the characters, so I have to give it a middling rating.

The ending was conclusive and good. Some of the new elements bolstered this story, while some of the more interesting elements felt a little dropped/forgotten in the name of reaching a conclusive end. Could have easily been a 5-star if some things had been polished up and different areas had been focused on. That said, I definitely enjoyed the series and enjoyed that Aveyard did not do the trope epilogue of "10 years later". It felt conclusive while leaving openings for continued writing if Aveyard and her readers want to have more later.

I love, love, love this collection of poems. Pablo Neruda is truly amazing!
