This went in a very odd direction and I found the first half pretty boring
The movie adaption is one of my childhood favourites and I read the book as a kid but didn't remember it at all so wanted to read it again because I'm doing a podcast on the movie. I really enjoyed it and it was a quick read, finished in an afternoon. There were parts I really wish had made it into the movie and parts of the movie I thought were excellent additions to the story as well. I liked the priest in this and wish he'd still been a priest in the movie the stuff about the devil was pretty funny, not sure if it was supposed to be. I also liked that the book has more of a back story with all the European stuff
Mixed feelings on this one. I went back and forth a lot but my main feeling was that so many problems could be solved with communication and neither character was incapable of it so some of the conflict felt a bit silly to me. Some parts also felt pretty uncomfortable and inappropriate but I have to think on that more and maybe come back to this. It was a fun read though
