Another fantastically disorienting book to read this season. It was dreamy and spooky and sad. A very interesting take on a haunted house

I wasn't sure about this one, idk how it even got onto my radar, but I loved it so so much

I loved this novella, or whatever it would be classified as lol it was very short. I do wish it was longer because the world building was so fascinating and the characters were too.

The story moved really quickly, sometimes period books can be a bit of a drag for me but this one I finished in only a few hours. It was about a midwife in a fictional version of 16th century London where a lot of strange, not quite human babies are being born. The midwife is a little bit strange herself and feels a connection to the babies. I really wish we got more at the end, like I said this book actually would've benefitted from being longer but overall it was a great read for this time of year and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something dark and fast paced.

I read this as a buddy read with someone who read it on Wattpad when she was a kid. 

It was decent, it definitely brought me back to reading these kinds of books as a teenager and it had a fun fast paced vibe. The writing is not the strongest and the chemistry between characters I didn't find very believable, but it was fun for what it was. It was a lot of fun to buddy read and make fun of the silly bits

Wow! This book was insane. Such an interesting plot with more and more revelations. The first half was definitely slow but not in a bad way, with lots of creepy gothic elements and slow glimpses into the post apocalyptic world of the book. The second half was much faster paced and kept getting crazier and crazier. It was sad and thoughtful and scary.

It read very much like a classic horror novel prose wise, at least for me, which added a lot to the overall tone. I'm definitely excited to see what this author does next and this was a great start to my season of horror books.

I really liked this one! We get a lot deeper look at Marco for once and he has a refreshingly different voice compared to the other characters 

The gang breaks into area 51 to stop evil horses from taking over the world. This one was definitely one of the more lighthearted less plot heavy books in the series, and definitely the weakest from Cassie's perspective so far.

I was pretty invested in this story at the beginning, but as time went on, I just felt like I wasn't connecting to the characters because all we really knew about them was that they were writers and they liked each other. I don't feel like we really got to understand either of them as people and so over time I just stopped really caring, especially because the ending of the book was super obvious so you're kinda just waiting for it to happen. I think the book would've been better without the flashbacks, both because it would've been shorter and also because I think they could have showed us what happened in the past with conversations in the present so the flashbacks honestly felt a bit lazy. I didn't hate it by any means but I did skim the ending which only happens when I'm SUPER over a book and just wanna finish.

Such a beautiful, hauntingly sad story with a hopeful ending. I absolutely loved it, and I saw so much of myself in the main characters although we don't really have much in common other than being humans. It was interesting to read about a situation so different from mine (being a gay man in the Syria) juxtaposed against something a lot more relatable to me (being queer in Vancouver). This is definitely one of my top reads this year and will sit with me for a long time.

This was honestly a very impressive debut considering it was written by a 15 year old! Rom Coms can be really hit or miss for me and I often find myself dnfing ones written by inexperienced writers, but I didn't even consider it for this one. It wasn't perfect by any means, a lot of if felt kind of unrealistic and silly but the writing was engaging and it had good pacing up until the end. It did feel like there were a lot of dropped threads and pointless details added in that didn't end up going anywhere. And the SA that comes in at the end was not particularly graphic and it was alluded to ahead of time so I clear it coming but unfortunately it really didn't feel like it added anything to the plot so it felt a bit gratuitous. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I'll be interested in seeing what the author does next, but I probably won't be recommending it to others.
