While this was a fun and fast read, it was overall predictable and the only thing that left me really satisfied with the read was a slightly open ended ending. If thrillers are new to you though, this is a good book to dip your toes into the thriller genre

While the writing came off as detached and lifeless, the story itself is compelling. If you have ever related to being an angry woman, perhaps even violent with many claiming you need to be tamed, this book will encourage your anger to galvanize you to use it to be unapologetically you.

This book is what I believe living a Lana Del Rey song would feel like. With the detached main character reminding me of Catcher in the Rye, this novel is one to stick with you. Didion uses short prose which forces the reader to pick up on what is not being said in the dialogue. While this is not a happy read, it is sure to stick with you if you’ve ever struggled with mental illness or know you’re a bit self-destructive. 

A combination of the handmaids tale and the hunger games, this book was shorter than my liking but left me raw and emotional nonetheless. A wonderful written story. 

This is definitely a book for any woman who feels out of place, like she hasn’t and never will get a happy ending. Maybe she’s been labeled the villain once or twice, and she doesn’t give a damn.
