I kinda saw the big "bad" coming fairly early on but it felt more neglected. It was all just a bunch of high school drama. I really didn't enjoy the back and forth sniping with all the girls.

I had a good time with book. It read like a gothic novel which is a genre that I enjoy. This was my first VE Schwab novel and I'll be checking out their others

I absolutely loved this one so much! The characters were great and I loved the whole game. I cannot wait to start Vol 2 next. 

It definitely has a LOT of history which I did find interesting for the most part since I'm interested in nautical things. I did find this dragged a bit in some places. I really liked so many aspects fo the fears in this story. Snow/ice are terrifying when I was a kid I almost suffocated myself in a snow mound so I have a lot of respect for what it can do to you not just getting frostbite. Starvation is terrifying as well, because really what would you do faced with that? a presence out in the dark that you don't know anything about, so many people fear the unkown as it is. But for me....it's the people. You never know what a person will do when they are isolated in a desperate situation.
