If you teach social studies for upper elementary or middle school in the West Coast YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK.

This is going to become a staple in my read-aloud collection. I did not know about Indian Termination Laws in America and I think that it is so important for students to learn about true history. THis is so important because it is an own voices book as well. UGH! What a gem! :)

My third book for battle of the books! I think this one is cute. It’s a great representation for kids in the spectrum. I’m excited to add it to my classroom library.

I will definitely be reading this to my fourth graders this year! (UPDATE, they loved it!)

Oregon Battle of the Books #6

Very thought provoking.

SO SO SO SO SO amazing. So often people ask me the why behind things and I never know how to answer things because I should not need to know everything about history to prove to someone that I matter. This book definitely has explanations that I will be telling people to refer to so that I do not have to waste my time and energy.

4.5/5 stars.

It took me a bit of time to read this one, but that it because I was soaking it in. I am one who needs joy in my life. This book reminded me of where I could find it and what I need to do to keep it up.

This is one that I will be referencing by for the rest of my life! How absolutely wonderful.

What a lovely surprise! This book was so captivating and validating. I personally love therapy and think everyone should go at some point in their life. It was really wonderful to see a therapist’s experience with therapy. So many quotes were saved from this one.
