It took me a hundred pages or so to get over Celaena's excessive use of exclamation points and her slightly annoying personality, but damn, I am so glad I pushed through and finished this. Did it blow me away? No. But it was an enjoyable read. The latter half of this book was especially riveting, and I found myself unable to put it down.

A not-so-average vampire book about a boy, a girl, crushes, youth, and friendship. This was so sweet and wholesome and I loved it.

Anyone who knows me is going to be surprised to hear that I really really enjoyed the shiitake mushrooms out of this, and am actually going to read the rest of the series.

Me! Reading a contemporary romance! And liking it enough to read the entire series! holy crap!

But yeah no, this was an absolute delight, and I'm so thankful it had a movie as great as the one it had, because there is no way I would have picked this book up if not for that gemstone of a film.

Sigh. Sophomore Syndrome.

It was alright, I guess. Nowhere near as charming as the first one, and a little more tedious. McClaren bored me to tears, and there was a lot of him in it. Meh.

For a fantasy/horror/sci-fi reader, I sure do love me some fluff.

Thank GOD for this book because it cleansed the sour taste the second one left in my mouth. Overall I'll say I wish the ending wasn't... as abrupt as it was, and that the book prioritized better on certain plot lines? But it was a nice wrap-up to the series.
