This was a bit of a step down from Catching Fire. It was slow, especially the first half, and at times a little tedious. I understand that Katniss was on the brink of depression, and that she was suffering from PTSD. I just think that the first half of the book tended to focus a tad too much on the things that didn't have that much of an impact, in the grand scheme of things. That being said, I do understand why the slow build-up may have been necessary. Mockingjay sees the story line take such a drastic turn.
Despite my reservations, I do think that Mockingjay did a great job wrapping up this series. The ending made sense, especially in terms of character development. Most of the characters, Katniss and Peeta mostly, were beaten and broken multiple times in the series, and the people they became by the end of this novel made complete sense against the journeys they'd been through.
I'm a fan. I will always, always love this series and the movie franchise. I just think Collins could have done so much more with this one, is all.

Absolutely loved this. So very Richelle Mead meets Patricia Briggs.
I loved how dynamic and how human the characters were, and I simply adored the fact that, even though there was a love triangle, it wasn't an icky one. Very realistic, I thought, with both men having their yings and yangs.
And, god, that ending. It didn't disappoint but DAMMIT, MY HEART HURTS.
I'll do a proper review soon. I promise.
