Coming from the author of The Silent Patient, The Fury was not at all what I expected! It's a thriller set on an island with 6 people (one of my favorite tropes), but it is not at all like those tropes. It is so over the top and melodramatic that it feels satirical and even the other characters didn't seem to want to be around the unlikable narrator. It was still fun in a lot of ways and a quick read. Overall, I have very mixed feelings.

This book takes place on a single day in April but of 3 different years: 2019, 2020, and 2021. Reading about these characters pre, during, and post lockdown stirred up a lot of feelings and some memories I had forgotten about. However, the characters fell a bit flat for me and while I think it captured what life was like, I don't think it did much else.

This book is really dragging for me. It's super disjointed without a lot of intrigue. I understand why it's told in a jumbled sort of way in which the main character's stream of consciousness barely has a forward direction, but I just don't like it.
