I feel like this had a page count limit and could have been a bit more comprehensive. Some of the most insightful aspects of the analysis aren’t new, but they do work as scaffolding toots pertinent conclusions. It just feels like a few more factors contribute to polarization but are sidestepped in order to get to the conclusion Klein wants. While this is understandable the structure does feel rushed and somewhat works to undermine because you know there are other factors not playing a part, that ought to be.

DNF’d at 15%. Not a fan of the narrator, authorial voice, or the tone. Might be different if I could see citations or footnotes but I gave the audiobook a go as the book had a long hold list at the library.

Not great narration, capital D dated plot construction and terribly grating on the inclusivity front. It’s a product of the times but even so there are plenty of books that don’t have the same pitfalls and far more likeable protagonists.

DNF’d 20% into the audiobook. Great narration but I just wasn’t into the world or the tone. Sarcastic “funny” stuff bounces off me every time so I don’t feel like giving it 1 star is fair, since I figured I wouldn’t be into it and gave it a go anyway.

Fantastic critique on feminism from a marginalized perspective that is structured and expands on specific issues. For this reason it is hyper specific and helpful, but also, for some, probably a lot less inclusive to people who are not awake of the movement and the jargon used in social Justice spaces. I’m pretty well engrained in it and I had to stop to look up some things because I’m in Canada and had never heard some of the terms used. But it does what it sets out to do very well, imo. You need some foundation, after which the ways in which the movement is failing and has failed its mandate to help marginalized peoples in the past. I found the arguments very well thought out and clear.
