I was actually really ready to not like this but It’s pretty incredible, imo. To the point where I will sit with it and right something long form about it because there’s a lot to unpack. Which is wild if you think about it because it’s not even actually in it’s finished form.
I usually hate things without a plot clipping along nicely and this is more like you’re wandering around with a flashlight illuminating random things that are interconnected but the plot isn’t really anywhere in sight. Yet I’m not sure I’ve been provoked to think about multiple subjects more than this book, with it’s weird, kind of lynchian approach.

Very solid. Inclusive of cultures, sexual orientations, gender, and speculative technologies. Fun, in terms of both a hybrid political thriller and action sequences and the strange and interesting construction of lunar society. Ian is always a solid read, I find. River of Gods was a also a fantastic cyberpunk book.

As you’d expect with a short story collection, I found stuff I really liked and enjoyed and stuff I skipped; both the joy and trouble with format. It’s short, punchy, digestible cyberpunk. Always a fan of more of CP and the I’ll certainly get the next volume. May subscribe to the magazine as well, as the layout looks stylish and great.
This Is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life
Fun, good prose, fairly interesting characters. Finding myself not very invested though. Not sure why, exactly—might be just a setting thing. I like it and will read the final one.
Enjoyable, but I feel the same as I did with Wolf Hall. I dislike that the text is so light on description and relies so heavily on dialogue rather than painting a scene. Again the dialogue is very good, but there are sections that are boring, even if they become important later. Mixed bag for me.
