Depressing and hilarious in equal measure... A hard read if you're British and value the NHS. An even harder read if you're pregnant (which I was).

Original, urgent and authentic story of teenage life, love and loss.

Do not say you are a mother for all mothers until you have read this book and understand better what modern Black British motherhood is like, and the obstacles they face, obstacles we white women need to help dismantle and destroy.

Wonderful. This is the kind of collection that makes me rejoice that short stories exist.

I read it on my Kindle for the first time last year, but re-read it recently as wasn't sure I'd finished it (I hadn't). Reading it as a hardback was exactly the right format for this is one of those books you must hold in your hands and have on your shelf for years to come because it's THAT good and THAT important.

A life-changing, eye-opening, heart-expander of a book that will challenge everything you thought you knew about the world you live in... in the best way possible. It is full of discomfort and full of hope. Read. It. NOW.
