However, I hated all the characters. Anna's family was tragic and had no redeeming quality. Anna was okeyish but still I don't like what she did with Josh so by that point I ended up no caring much about her either.
The ending was also felt rushed? There was too much time spent talking about Anna's job and her apartment and what not.
The 3 stars are only for the atmosphere in the beginning of the book, it was chef's kiss.

Initially I loved it. The pace is amazing and I was genuinely invested in what had happened.
The second half of the book was what killed it a bit for me. The pacing didn't feel as good and the story dragged on a bit. At the same time, there were so many twists that it almost felt a bit unrealistic to me.
Overall tho, it was a fun read and it got me right in the Halloween mood!

I was initially unsure about the order in how to read this series but ultimately I am happy I read it 4th! After this ending I truly want Arobynn to pay so I can't wait to see what happens in Queen of Shadows when they finally meet again.

Before the Play is quite worth reading if you enjoyed The Shining. It tells the scary and creepy stories of some of characters that lived in the hotel for a while.

Even better than the first two books! Aelin is getting so strong, seeing her powers grow and seeing her accept her past was everything!
And the new characters... I adore them so much. Rowan is <b>THE</b> book boyfriend I was missing. Manon is absolutely amazing, I cannot wait to continue her story ark and see her bring hell on whoever crosses her.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. The world-building is incredibly done for a somewhat more complex and unique world. The characters are all fascinating. The pace of the story is one of the best I've ever read with no dull sections or "filler".
