I received an eARC from Netgalley, courtesy of the publisher Bold Stroke Books, in exchange for an honest review.
Y’all know that I am not really a romance genre reader, which I talked about in a coffee shop talk. However, I had heard good things about Melissa Brayden’s books, so I figured I’d give this one a shot when I saw it on Netgalley. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel the romance in this book at all, even though I stayed up way too late reading it. It was utterly meh for me. It may well have been a me-issue rather than a book issue, though.

Adorable!
Absolutely adorable! I don't think anyone can help but smile at this sweet romantic short story. Another face from N Hollis!

I listened to about 4 hours of this before DNFing. I found it okay, but couldn't decide if I liked it, and then the author veered very close to slave/master romance and I'm just... nah.
TW for sexual assault, attempted murder, fantasy race of slaves, MC who doesn't actually care about slavery for 1/3rd of the book.
