MY HEART. THIS BOOK HAS STOLEN IT.

This was just absolutely delightful. I loved Khaw's writing in other stories of hers, but couldn't get into the goriness of her splatterpunk style because I am a total wimp when it comes to everything bloody.
This was a better fit for me. I got to read her luscious writing and focus on an adorably awkward romance. If she does anything like this again that isn't as splatterpunk-y, it will be an auto-buy for me with no questions asked.

This book drove me nuts, and I DNF'd. I hated the narrator a lot.

I wouldn't eat most of the food in this book because I'm picky as hell, but the poetry was stunning and really got my thinking about my food memories.

Reading this was like scrolling through the r/relationships subreddit with cute illustrations. It was not a great experience for me.

TW: rape, warned for before story starts, as well as questionably consensual sex near the end.

This novella was interesting. It is a f/f twist on the little mermaid, with two sea witches, which was neat. There was some great writing shown, but I think this story suffered because of how short it was.

One thing that bothered me was the way sex and physical touch was used as a bargaining piece in this novel, without any other option or discussion of the bargain. I really wish it had been explored more than the passing conversation that happened with the sea witch’s sister.
