I just can't stand Elle. She's so annoying and childish to me. And I hate the trope of "friend or family member harrasses the FMC about being single bc they'll never be happy alone". Definitely makes me never want to pick up her brother's book...which is unfortunate bc I bought the entire trilogy (plus the fiancee farce) before I knew I didn't like this 😬

I tried to push through since it's less than 300pg but it was just not happening. It's definitely not the worst thing I've ever read but the story and characters just felt flat honestly. I felt no connection to the MC or any of the characters so I didn't really care what happened. It was a lot of telling and not a lot of showing in my opinion which is something that really takes me out of a world. Granted, it could have gotten better but I don't care to waste time on meh (for me) books when I have so many other things to be reading.

I liked the first book and couple but turned out the LI in this book is a literal
pedophile
. He tries to
make out with her
when she's 15 and he's 20 in a flashback. That's not even touching on the other questionable things he did when she was even younger...instant DNF. He's also just a whiny man child.
Her
"breaking his heart"
is his big hangup but turns out she was actually just freshly 18 and fleeing her
groomer
. Big yikes man. Idk if I'm ever going to try something else from this author after this...

I think this excerpt says enough...

"Now a couple of elephants were trying out aggressive sexual positions in my skull. But forgetting about my troubles for a night… #worthit."

It was just so boring which is surprising considering the wild plot. I also don't think an editor was hired because the weird grammar mistakes were nothing short of painful. Very much wattpad in the worst way possible.

The whole "I don't believe in trigger warnings" BS as the start should have been the first red flag. They're not for you. They're for potential readers and there's absolutely nothing wrong with someone wanting to be warned about graphic content. Trying to belittle people for wanting content warnings is gross and weird. Especially when your book contains literal
rape and pedophilia
