i LOOOOOOOOOVED the art work, but other than that, I don't think I was the target audience for this, since the writing style was definitely not for me 😅

I think it was fun, especially since as a theatre kid I was always on stage and knew little of what goes on backstage, but other than that, I got a bit confused at points and didn't think it was all that memorable.

Tbh I loved the vibes soooo much and I was so sure this was gonna be a five star read or at least a four star, but then we reached the 70% mark and nothing much had happened/we were rehashing the same story with Vassia again and again and I just wanted to be done 😅🙈

This was sooooo much FUN! I love pirates, child obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean here 😂 so this was such a refreshing take to what a pirate is or maybe how a pirate is portrayed in media!

The writing style was also so much fun, it made the book even more readable and I just wish it was adapted into a TV show, cause I'd binde that thing in a matter of hours 😂

The only thing I didn't like is that
it had a double ending, like I was okay with Morvath being dead in the explosion and the book felt like it dragged towards the end, especially when he reappeared that kinda took away from my overall experience.

Bold

My first impression upon finishing this was how waaaaaaay better it was than Icebreaker! And my biggest compliment ever, as opposed to the first book in the series, is that it didn't drag, almost nothing felt unnecessary.

I've grown up going to summer camp, so this setting was ideal for me, it was so much fun and I truly loved all the summer shenanigans. I did enjoy our pair's communication and it was cute wa ching them fall in love, and the writing was really flowing, even though I did think at some point that the author was using a lot of buzz words, like "miscommunication" or "love language", etc.

**cannot rate it higher since it unironically offended my one true love, Mr Darcy, #sorrynotsorry

The premise of this book set it out to be an exciting and horrifying read, and it was, for the most part.

I found it slightly too long, especially since it felt like we had 2 climaxes instead of 1 and also because the subject matter was slightly vague, meaning that at the end of the day, our heroes didn't really "solve" anything.

Other than that, it was atmospheric, but it felt too slow sometimes and that did affect the overall effect that book had on me.

DID NOT FINISH: 65%

why was this book that long 😭 I dnfed at 65%, I just couldn't bring myself to care about aaaaaaanyone and nothing had happened yet, nothing 🥶

In a way, I'm glad I read cause FOMO 😂🙈 other than that, I didn't feel like I read something that I haven't read before in terms of tropes and guessing what would happen next.

Sometimes, I do enjoy reading the same tropes with slight alterations to serve the specific plot, but this wasn't one of those times. I was soooo lost with the plot and who was supposed to be fighting with whom, I just think I didn't have the mindset to properly follow everything. Also it was soooo long 🥲

I do understand its appeal, but I won't be continuing with the series.

2023 --- I just loved this book so much. It was so cozy, so heartwarming, the perfect autumn read! Listened to it as an audiobook and I never though an Irish accent would do it for me 😉🙈 (5 stars)

19/08/2024 --- read it for the second time and even though it was an enjoyable read, I feel like this time I could see it with more "critical" eyes, or maybe I was a little bit detached from it, I have no idea, but it wasn't the 5 star read I remember from 2023. Still fun, still an interesting concept, but I felt it was lacking in distinct voices for the children, tried too much to be quirky and cute and some plot points felt rushed.

This was really really enjoyable! I did leave it for a good week as soon as I hit the 30 chapter mark, but when I picked it back up again, it was so easy to finish it.

I liked how the ending came about, didn't mind the
double reveal at the end, I was hoping that Andy would actually be alive, based on what the lady at the inn said as well
but other than that, I was pretty happy with how all the loose ends tied up.

An easy, fun read, will watch the TV show, even though I've heard they are deviating from the book quite a bit.
