This book was fantastic! It is a quick read, packed with action and spice, and yes, it does leave on a cliffhanger depending on how you look at it. If you view it solely as a novella without knowing that it is a prequel, it satisfies. However, if you consider it as a prequel, it leaves you hungry for more in the best ways.
I know this is listed as an Erotic Horror, but it's also a psychological mind-melt. This book was so good I read it two times in a row to make sure I didn't miss any little hints. And I'm glad I did because reading it the second time around gives you a different perspective. The narration comes from the FMC Skylar at first, then switches sometimes to Nate, the MMC. Towards the end, you also get the perspective from Skylar's BFF, Evelyn. The story starts with Skylar and Evelyn getting into an accident, hitting Nate when leaving a party. They thought he was dead, but he's not, and he is on a mission to torment Skylar. This book is spicy, bloody, and fantastic. Would recommend.
This is a wild ride from start to finish, and just when you think you have everything figured out, the author tosses a wrench into things. I enjoyed every bit of it. This Taboo Dark Romance involves Jade, the female main character (FMC), and her foster brother Royce, the male main character (MMC). For unknown reasons, Royce leaves when she is 15 and he is 18, and it crushes her. Four years later, he comes back, and he's hot and a biker. She doesn't know what she's feeling, but she's feeling it. The plot in this book is so well thought out, and the twists keep you locked in.
This is a sequel to 'Sicko,' so if you have not read 'Sicko,' I would recommend doing that first. 'Sicko' involves Jade, the female main character (FMC), and her foster brother Royce, the male main character (MMC). For unknown reasons, Royce leaves when she is 15 and he is 18, and it crushes her. Four years later, he comes back, and he's hot and a biker. Wicked, the MMC of this book, is the right-hand man to Royce, and this is the backstory to his upbringing and how he and Royce met. When Wicked was younger, he and his sister Poppy were placed in a house with an abusive man. One night, that man killed his wife, which in turn Wicked kills. They are then brought in by Victor, his wife, and daughter Ruby. This is where the two books start to merge, and the story gets more developed, showing how the characters all fit together. The world-building and character development in this are phenomenal. The next book in this series is 'Antichrist,' and I am all in.
Antichrist' is a standalone novel linked to 'Sicko' and 'Wicked' by Amo Jones. It starts the story with Cece, Jer, Mira, Luca, Ari, Niko (the MMC), and Meraki (the FMC). Growing up, they always had a tight friend group, with Meraki and Niko always being best friends and having a 'connection.' Jump years ahead, and Luca and Meraki are in a situationship, but that is interrupted when Niko rolls back into town. As an extra bonus, Meraki is listening to a podcast with a very cryptic woman talking about her life growing up in a mob family. This book jumps timelines and is from dual POVs, which means dual timelines. This was good and brings all the books full circle.
Left field is where I like to be all the time, so this way, when things are coming out of left field, they are leaving. When you vocally say, 'Oh no, is what I am thinking gonna happen, gonna happen? Yup, yup, so that happened.' Or, 'Nope, didn't see that coming,' you know the book is good. It is short, twisted, and to the point. If you love splatter or extreme horror, this is for you. I loved this.
Now, this is another standalone but linked to other worlds type of book. The story starts with Cora sacrificing herself to save her mom and dad from a loan shark, Ricardo, to pay off her father's debt. Before the exchange is made, she is given a month to get her affairs in order. During this time, we meet her best friend June, who is in a polyamorous relationship with Simon, Dom, Cohen, and Magnus. (To read the backstory of June and her men, check out the duet 'Untamed Vixen' & 'Vilnian Era.') We also meet Alec, who is their driver, and Miller, their very rich business associate. Cora gets into a situation, and Miller sends his fixer, Silver, to help her. If you are still with me, great. One by one, Cora falls for Alec, Silver, and Miller, but the secret she is keeping can hurt them all. This book has great flow and is spicy right out of the gate. If you love mafia, found family, and 'why choose' themes, this book is for you.
This is a coming-out story that will have you in your feelings 100%. Nia (FMC) is dealing with the struggles of PTSD when she goes back to her hometown. Five years ago, she hurt herself in a roller derby accident and feels that if she gets back on the rink, it will help her heal. During this journey, she has to deal with an overbearing mother, financial problems, the struggles of being in her own head, and just not really fitting in. Roller skating is the one thing that made her feel alive, or so she thought. This is such a relatable story, and I did not expect it to have me in my emotions with my own personal story and discovering who I am around the same age. I was not ready for the end. Crossed Over is Book one of the Shredded Hearts Duet. This is a great read and something I will probably read again. 100% recommend.
When I tell you this book had me giggling like a schoolgirl, please believe it. This is a short novella about Charlotte, a recent divorcée and owner of a bookshop called Scorched Pages. One day, after a run-in with her ex, she decides to check out the Build-a-Book-Boyfriend app that lets you do exactly that. And just like I know we all would do if life was a book, she builds that bad boy we all fawn over. His name is Rhys Ravenstone, lol. This book had me giggling, feeling mushy, and included some great Easter eggs of my favorite authors being mentioned. It is told from Charlotte's POV and has all the book boyfriend clichés. This was a quick read, well told, and lots of fun. This is a series I am going to have to keep on my TBR. 100% recommend. READ THIS BOOK!!
As much a I love Carly Claire her cliffhangers get me every time. This story is so good from the very start since book 1 ended in a cliffhanger this picks right up. It features a dual perspective between Remington, aka Remy, and Claire. Claire is Remy's sister Rhea's best friend. We meet everyone in book 1 "Taste of Darkness". I do not want to spoil anything but this book in a wild ride from start to finish and has surprising revelations. I can not wait until book 3.
