A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
I honestly think that this might be the best book Sarah has ever written. EVER. Maybe that's just because I am feeling a lot of emotions right now but I really do think it might be. There wasn't a single part of this book I didn't love reading. The character development in this book was amazingly well done. I already had seen spoilers about Feyre and Rhys and knew what was going to happen but even with the spoilers in the back of my mind it felt like I was with them the whole time riding the roller coaster with them, AND somehow even knowing all the bits beforehand I was still surprised and shocked by all the amazing little details. The ending was BRILLIANT and I don't think anyone could've seen this coming. If you had you're a liar. I am so impressed with the skill of her side character writing, she never lets a character go unnoticed. Some authors won't pay enough attention to the side characters so that when something happens to them we just don't care but I feel like we know these character as well as we know Feyre. I'm picking up the third book right now and diving in!
The Shadow Wand by Laurie Forest

I have a love/hate relationship with this new installment of my favorite book series.
As we all know I am obsessed with all the books previous to this one however, this one seemed to fall just a bit flat for me.
It felt simultaneously too rushed and too slow at times. There were so many new characters all thrown at me at once, and barely anything of our old loved characters. I did actually like the new characters quite a bit though and the first couple of chapters after I got myself into a little bit of a rhythm with them but then they dropped out of the book until the end and we only heard from Elloren.
I guess it almost felt like Laurie wanted all these cool new characters and their information to be present but then wasn't sure how to add them in so they were just stuck in for this book so we know them and then maybe we'll explore them more in the next book? I guess I just wish that we got introduced to them a bit more and got to spend more time with them and their budding relationships with the people we already care about. The characters all seemed super cool but we had barely any time with them. I have said this before and will forever say this when it comes to books, I would much rather have more book with more information than fewer books and have things rushed.
As an Elloren and Yvan shipper, this installment obviously was not my favorite in terms of romance. I thought that sending Elloren back to the Grey's was a bad idea from the get-go. I just wasn't sure how Lukas was supposed to help her, especially not when everything she's done up to this point would obviously be viewed as terrible form the Gardnerians POV. I am 0% shocked that Vogel found out, I mean she was literally in his hands the whole time...
Elloren even said, hey I can feel his magic, he can probably feel mine and Lukas was kind of like nah, you're good, I'm here.
And again with romance...didn't Elloren already choose Yvan? Didn't we solidify their relationship in the last book, she's literally is bound to Yvan. I also feel like Lukas is just so all of a sudden a rebel, he was so low-key about everything in the last book and definitely not in the first book it just feels so instant in this book and it feels driven by his love for Elloren rather than a hatred for Vogel (which is what it should be).
Another thing about Elloren...wasn't she all bad-ass and ready to fight at the end of the last book. She seemed pretty ready and willing then but this whole book was just a lot of Lukas saving her and her complaining, and then Lukas telling her to stop complaining and her complaining about him telling her to stop...and then sex...
I might add more thoughts later but this is where I leave it for now. I'm just a little disappointed as a presentation I guess is the best way to describe it. I still love Laurie's writing style and magic systems in general.
Hopefully, the next book will redeem itself and bring this series back up to the 5-star status given for the other books. This would've been three stars if I didn't love this series overall so much.

Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano

As someone who read this book knowing it wasn't my type of genre to read anyway, I am not surprised by my rating but I will try to write this review as objective as possible.
**light spoilers**
I felt no connection to any of the characters on the plane whatsoever. I don't know why I couldn't like them but some of their stories were just so boring and I never found myself connecting to them. I feel like they were supposed to let us see into their personal normal human lives and have us respond with more emotion but the boring and mundane was just well boring to me. And there were a few of them that I just hated in general. I actually stopped reading Florida's POVs (and someone else but I can't remember their name so that must say something) and had to skip over them because I disliked them so much.
I also felt like the way the POVs were written was confusing and not separated well enough. When at the B&N monthly book club someone said that she felt it was as though you "were walking down the plane aisle" and I can sort of see that but for me, it just made things confusing and frustrating.
I found myself only caring about the future Edward POVs and the Edward and family POVs on the plane (Veronica's POVs on the plane were okay actually because she had more plane based info after the whole bathroom events ;)).
I think Shay and her mother were my favorite characters and then Edward after that. I know some reviews say that they thought Edward's "recovery" was slow and he "didn't even try" but the fact is that you can't really recover from that and I think the tone set for Edward reflects he mental state perfectly and how hard that could be. I couldn't even begin to imagine losing my entire family like that.
****ending spoilers ahead**
I did not like Shay and Edward's ending. I think having them together at the end wraps it up way to nicely and diminishes the amazing portraying of Edward's recovery. I think them staying as friends would have been so much better because in reality not everything gets to be wrapped up in a pretty little bow and I think this is the one time that I will ever want that.
Okay, that is all I have for this book. I wish I had liked it more but I also kind of knew going in that it wasn't going to be my next favorite or anything.

Snotgirl, Vol. 3: Is This Real Life? by Bryan Lee O’Malley

I am confused....very confused...
I don't think there's even a plot anymore. I'm starting to dislike every character and I have no clue where this is supposed to be going. I feel like I need to go re-read everything up to this point again but even then I still might not know where we are.
I only plan on continuing because I want to know what is supposed to be happening but if this was the first volume I would not continue.
I normally complain about graphic novels and comics moving too fast in terms of plot but honestly, I could do with a little more speed at this point. Or maybe just some clarification. Keeping things a mystery is totally different than just straight-up confusing readers.

10/10 TOE BEANS!!
Just amazing! I have loved Hannah for so long now and this book is no exception. I also purchased the audiobook witch featured the cute purrs of Penelope and Petunia. This book ranges from a casual read to a full on text book. Even if you're only slightly interested in cats (or heck! even a dog lover, stop on by!) or are an experienced foster-er or veterinarian, this book is a must have!

Sadly I was less impressed with this book that I was by the first two. I was so excited but then it just took me so long to get through. It was a good-ish ending like I liked it but it was kinda meh. There were parts that I really enjoyed a lot though so I had to still give it four stars. I probably won't re-read but I'm glad I read it.
Wicca: A Modern Guide to Witchcraft and Magick by Harmony Nice
5.0
Absolutely amazing! I mean I was excited about the release of this book because I've been a fan of Harmony Nice for quite a while but I never expected her book to be this good! ( I mean I did but I was just blown away) This is an amazing book for starter Wiccans/Witches it touches on a lot with just enough information to get someone started. I very much love how organized it is and how clear it is. She shares information about herself in a very helpful way and not in an overbearing unnecessary way like some other do. (However I would read a book all about her anyway XD) I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend to this book to newbies and even experienced Wiccans and Witches. It's an amazing addition to any collection. I hope she writes another book!!

I thought this was so cute and was SOOO close to being 5 stars for me. I'd like to touch on everything I liked about it first.
Diversity and Representation!
I love the fact that we get to see people who are queer, non-binary, hard-of-hearing, and Chinese-American as cool fantasy characters like witches and werewolves! Too often we're stuff with the same exact cookie-cutter cis, straight and white characters being the cool fantasy characters and the diverse character stuck as the boring side character who is only there to help the main character along. Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with people who are cis, straight and white, it's just that we've already seen it (like a billion times).
Art!
I thought the art was super beautiful and was consistent throughout. Also, it was just so freaking cute!!!
The plot....ish
Now starting to move on to things that I didn't love as much. I didn't dislike the plot but I didn't love it either. I think the idea of the plot was great just not don't super well. It felt horribly rushed and was insta-love for our main characters. The big huge awesome fight at the end was well not big huge and awesome. It was over in a couple of pages and that was just kind of the end. I've noticed that being my main issue with a lot of graphic novels. I would much prefer it to take its time and go into all the little nooks and crannies and have multiple books rather than stuffing it all into one.
It also kind of feels like its meant for a weird mix of audiences. Like it felt very young (like middle school) at points but then actually felt like a young adult in others.
Overall, I might not read it again but I would suggest it to others because it is still a super adorable story with great representation.
