Such a fun read, especially once it got into the plot of the book. Found the setting and characters really unique and exciting (was particularly happy to see a map with a road called Cromer Crawl on it). Definitely something I would have loved to have read when I was younger!
Okay, so realistically this is probably a 4.5 but I’ve just finished it and I’m stuck in my emotions right now, so we’re just giving it a 5 star rating.
This book is at the same time an easy read and at the same time a book you want to put down and not touch for a few days. It’s of course dealing with incredibly tough subject matter, but it’s written so beautifully and handled so well that you can’t help but want more.
I could honestly write a whole essay on why I loved this book and why it’s so important (but that might just be because I took modules on Greek tragedy and feminist writing this year and I’m struggling to shake them off).
Basically, read this book and remind yourself that so much of our classic and literary culture is focused on men, remind yourself of the neglected stories, of those forgotten by history.
