Rachel Fallonās debut novel follows Asteria as she joins other adult humans as slaves to the various fae kingdoms. The various kingdoms are no longer in balance and the fae are monsters towards their slaves.
This novel is split into two parts over more than 700 digital pages and many of the chapters are quite lengthy. The two parts have very different vibes: part 1 feels hopeless and abusive while part 2 feels heroic and like fate has brought various characters together.
I struggled a bit with the choices Asteria makes regarding the various intimate and non-intimate relationships. In particular, in part 1, I found that Asteriaās thoughts and feelings around the relationships she has with other human slaves as well as her fae master do not always match up. I also felt that she too easily gave into her desires rather than stick to her morals. However, I think as I completed part 2, I have a better understanding of why the author chose to make her give in so easily.
The intimate scenes transport the reader into the scene and things definitely get hot and heavy a few times. These scenes are 100% open door and quite descriptive, so bear that in mind if you choose to read this book.
This novel was a wonderful introduction to the world of Celesterra and the ending of the book made me desperate to find out what will happen next. Overall, Rachel Fallon did an excellent job depicting Asteriaās story in a way that was captivating and moved quickly.
Note: this book is 18+ and has some very adult scenes. It is highly recommended that readers take a look at the trigger/content warnings before beginning the book.
Graphic: Death, Sexual content, Slavery, Torture, Toxic relationship
Moderate: Confinement, Domestic abuse, Infidelity, Physical abuse, Rape, Violence, Kidnapping, Murder, Injury/Injury detail, Classism
Minor: Vomit, Toxic friendship, War
I was intrigued with the premise but found the plot moved so slowly that I wasnāt wanting to pick the book up and continue it. I might try this book again in the future but right now itās a true DNF.

This book was phenomenal, the introduction of the world, the flaws of the characters, Eiraās push to be the best she can be as a sorcerer with unique abilities, and finally the plot twists.
This is definitely a slow burn with almost a love triangle going on but Eira spends most of her time working through her own family drama and proving everyone wrong about her and what happened three years before the book began.
Eira and her best friend, Alyss, are a wonderful pairing to compete in the trials together but not against each other. Cullen, The Prince of the Tower, and friend of Eiraās brother, Marcus, grows on you as a reader with his unknown past and family struggles.
I was devastated with what happened in the fourth trial, especially after the blind sided truth Eira finds out about after trial 2. I also didnāt see the antagonist coming at all, maybe because of the same reasons as Eira.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book to readers of fast-paced, high fantasy with a unique twist on elemental magic. Iāve already picked up the next book in the series to continue the adventure to find out more about Eiraās past and about Meru.

The book follows Samantha, a demon banisher and daughter of Asatroth as she navigates her spiritual powers, and tries to stay away from her fallen angel father. An interesting premise with a sweet underlying romance leads the reader to a place where fae and werewolves work alongside to help Sam keep the mortal world from demonic possessions.
The plot ebbs and flows from intense demonic battles to sweet relaxed scenes. There are heavy Christian references and mentions of God and the spirituality associated with Christianity, so if that makes you uncomfortable, please consider that before reading.

This book was the perfect slow burn, fake dating, book with a refreshing take on Fae politics.
Luc and Rose made such a perfect pairing and I was swooning over Luc so early into the book. The way he interacts with Rose and his family had my heart absolutely melting.
Overall, this book had a wonderful balance between soft relationship building and interesting plot development.
The final battle didn't end how I expected and the deity structure in the book was very different than what Iām used to reading.
Iām very excited to find out what Jillian Witt will do in the next book, especially with the magical mist expanding more and some of the questions that have come to light regarding the gods and goddesses.
Book 2: Tangled Power is available for preorder on Amazon and is expected June 18, 2024. Read book 1 now on Kindle Unlimited, paperback and hardback available on Amazon, or listen to the audiobook on Audible.
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury, Pandemic/Epidemic

As a person who grew up reading the HP books and watching the HP movies, I knew I wanted to read Tom Feltonās book to see how the HP universe impacted him as a child actor.
The book starts with the most hilarious story of him as a young teenager attempting to steal an adult video from his local HMV š
Tom shares antics he did that paralleled a friend of mine who was regularly told he looks like Draco. Tom shares the funny, the emotional, and the low points of growing up in the HP universe.
Draco and Tom have such different upbringings even though Tom did such a fantastic job depicting Draco in the movies. It even tracks that Tom hadnāt bothered to read the books before auditioning for a role in the movies.
If youāre looking for a generally light-hearted memoir, pick this one up.
Aside: I would like to say that in no way do I endorse the thoughts and viewpoints of the HP author. I do however believe that the stories belong to the readers of the books and the watchers of the movies, not the backwards thinking of the author.
