My first read of Junji Ito was Remina and, even if I like it, I wasn't impress by what look like to be the best horror manga artist. But here, with Uzumaki, I'm impress!

This was so weird!!! Might not be perfect, the narrative lack cohesion at some point and look like we get mini-episodes likes chapters, but there is a continuity even if it looks rough on the edges and it delivers an overall good story. More amazing than that the weirdness of the vibes, the ambiances of this city/world just going into deep madness. It has some very disturbing scenes and, be warned if you're sensible, but if you are a horror fan, reading manga or not, this is a book I would recommend you to check out. I will definitely read more from Junji Ito!

There is so much to say about this book! Claire North truly achieves greatness in her new book! She had let me down a bit with my last read from her, I saw that she try to introduce social criticisms, but the story suffer from it a lot, getting buried by her ideas. Here, she did both right. Providing a solid and fun story while still presenting a magnificent portrait of everything wrongs in our modern world. Over consumerism, fake plastic appearance, unrealistic beauty standard, overachieving and the need to show-brag about it, getting buried into debt for something we don’t need and not even want, credit system that encourage vice and unhealthy consumer habit and so much more. How does she fits all of it in a 120 pages novella, I don’t know, but she did brilliantly! The writing as usual is good, maybe even a bit better, I think she might continue improving. Still a bit of struggle in the ending, the resolution of the main story, but her final touch, the last direction her story end, going into, is just awesome! I highly recommend reading it! Claire North is an author worth discovering and reading and with a short novella like this book, this might do a nice entry point for readers. Read it!

Wow! So much depth, so much wisdom in that little book. I order the «real» Lao Tzu book after reading it, not sure if there is more to it or just less, taking back the Le Guin comment and footnotes, we'll see! Anyway this book was great short poem like bit of insight that are worth taking them slowly, thinking about it and honestly there is a lot to take in and add to your life if you really want a change! I highly recommend! A book I will go back in quite often!

Not much to it... le's up it bounce back on the next one or it could be a very short follow-up for me!

One last try if it's still family story and no superhero comic I'm out!

What a comic!! Crazy on all point!! Just wow!

A rhythmic prose about peace in this book. While I respect the message in it and the originality of this book, the result is not that interesting. The illustrations, more like a scrapbook made by a kid, and no story, just more message about peace in each page. Good message, but bad book!

Awesome!! Really really good! Looking forward the next one!
