3,5/5. Not in a cartoons form this type but in a children book, Nancy bring a simple, originally interactive, story for kids. Not much to it but I like how it get the kinds involve manipulating the book so that give it some points!
That was an awesome book! Not only is the intrigue captivating, but it also address some important social «issues» or at least subject, like abortion, Alzheimer, growing old, childhood/memory, friendship, lies and much more. It was a thriller that goes beyond the canvas of its genre and I always enjoy those books. Not sure the ending what really what I wanted it to be, but it was surprising and good, even if maybe a bit force. Definitely a must read, I always the next tone by the other right away! And, I almost forgot to tell, the writing was beautiful, lot of quotes here and there that touched me, I have noted eleven of them, something that don't happen often and even less in thriller. Love it!
3,5/5. Little story about trying your best. It had a classical art styles that usually don't please me much but for this one, can't explain why, I find it fit perfectly. The story is simple, a bit repetitive, but that's okay for this kind of book. Alright read!
Another web comic book. Very quick read as always. I have to admit some of them make me laugh, not much but some, most make me smile. Nothing extraordinary but above the majority of this genre!
Beautiful story about taking care of each other and not taking people for granted. Perfectly done!
Nope! Wasn't for me. I hate everything about it. I have to say I listen to it on audio and the narrator wasn't good either so maybe the narration play a negative part in my reading experience. Anyway... I wanted to read the Raven's Boy for a long time and now I'm scare I will hate it... Will eventually give it a chance but not for now.
I really like the arts and would be curious to see how it ends up in a physical book. That being said... the story wasn't good in my opinion and the message didn't please me either. It also felt like it was too really small story into one, the book kind of taking a different road in the middle. I try, but it didn't please me!
A wordless book, in the true sense of picture book… A bit too light for me. It «talks» about diversity and being different which is good, but the lax of depth make it just a bit too light to really embrace the subject. Of course this is for really young kids, but does kids so young really think and make a lot about difference...? I don’t think so. I think hating people who are different, for whatever reasons is something some children learn and it will appears at an older age. Anyway, all that to say that I’m not sure about the utility of this book and didn’t like it much.
2,5/5. A tale of perseverance… Nothing really original here. The message is good and important but just don’t bring anything new, to make it worth it in my opinion. I like the illustrations style but that wasn’t enough...
A book that explore feelings through cartoons in a web comic style. It has good humor while being very light but interesting enough to explore feelings in a new ways that would maybe help reach pre-teens or older kids around 9-10 or older, that wouldn’t find what they need in other books about feelings that are often very childish. Original concept, nothing extraordinary but it has and audience and an achieved purpose so that’s good!
