3,5/5. A bit too long for this kind of story. Nonetheless a good concept, bringing short stories into a story, bringing the horror genre to middle-grade reader, mixing style between the Arabian nights and Hansel and Gretel and also provide a good incitations to writing. The horror stories were for me no so original, being an horror fan for almost two decades, but I would be curious to have some feedback for younger reader about it. I would have edited it a bit better, maybe 50 pages shorter and it wold have been great, without it, still a good story.

4,5/5. Another very weird, maybe his weirdest event if not his best, story! A life and fear allegory... I think... with the unique touch that make Lemire work noticeable and worth reading. Done by a genius!

2,5/5. Metaphorical story about friendship and respect. Can't say I find the message to be truly inspiring or helpful. It lacks some depth to make it really worth it. Felt a bit empty for me!

Awesome book about a hard subject. Death. How to talk about death with children. This book does it perfectly. No cheap melodrama here or cheesy ending, no, the author present the fact, simple an honest into his story and it was also marvelously illustrated. Not the happiest bedtime book for sure, but if you want to talk about death with your kids and need some help, this book will do the job just fine!

Funny think to present the problem and stupidity issue that a phone might provides. Funny for sure but not sure how well it fit the targeted reader of a picture book... that's why I lower its rating a bit!

2,5/5. I find the art work of this book to be truly original and very colorful, I like it. Unfortunately the story, even if it has some meaning in it, a bit unclear for a picture book, but still an important message, it just wasn't enough to make it stand out. Not bad, but not great either!

Very simple book, but still an interesting subject/theme, we often see first day at school book, but not necessary first day at the day care and I like the idea of doing a picture book about it because it's directly on the targeted reader age. Simple but well executed!

That was one slow start for sure... Let's hope it get better because it wasn't that good. Way too much talking and not enough action in my opinion!

Great add-on to the Black Hammer series, kind of parallel to the main story, we get deeper into the villains story, some of them, and obviously focusing on Sherlock Frankenstein. I like it a lot and would recommend reading for the Black Hammer fans and readers because on its own, without the Black Hammer, it isn't really worth it, you would miss half of it at least.
