My review here will most likely not do this story justice so if you are even remotely interested in this book just trust me and go read it now.
There are a number of reasons why I was unable to put this book down and they mostly revolve around the characters. The goods ones, the bad ones and even the ones who fall somewhere in the middle.
The main character, Adelice, is probably one of my favorites. She is smart, sarcastic, and tough. Although she is in an impossible situation, she doesn't give up and just cry about it. Don't get me wrong, if it were me I would probably have curled up in a ball somewhere and cried all of the tears. Instead, she tries to figure out who she can trust and starts to build some relationships. I love her honesty and the fact that she just can't help her sarcastic remarks to Cormac.
The dystopian piece to this story is slow to be revealed. Initially there are bits and pieces - the book opens by going over the testing that Adelice has been participating in along with her options as a 16 year old girl in the world they live in once testing is complete. As the story progresses and we learn more about Adelice, we also learn more about Arras - the world they live in. I love the idea that they are living in a world where Spinsters control time and everything through threads and looms. Little does everyone know that Adelice has a gift that makes her extra special in this regard....no spoilers.
The other characters enhance the story as well. Erik and Jost are solid love interests and there is more revealed about Jost than Erik....I think I might have liked it to be the other way around so hopefully that will happen in the next book. There is a love triangle here and I am interested to see how this plays out in the next book considering how this one ended but for those that don't enjoy that aspect, know that it doesn't become the focal point of the story.
Cormac and Maela are interesting "bad guys". Both are focused on the power they want and trying to figure out a way to use Adelice to get it. I think I respect Cormac more only because he was pretty up front with Adelice about things - he was still a complete a-hole but still...I am very interested to see what he does next and how Maela fits into it.
Overall a great book one for this series and I am very much looking forward to the next one. I recommend this to anyone who likes a great heroine and an interesting story.

Overall rating would be a 2.5 on this one. I had been waiting for this one for a while and was super excited to see it on netgalley. I'm hoping that if there is a book 3 (and it feels like there will be) I don't have to wait 2+ years for it.
From what I can remember of the first book, I really enjoyed it. I struggled with this one only because I couldn't remember any of it and I think that put me at a disadvantage. Mainly because this book jumped right into the story without a lead in and with the amount of time (and books that I have read in between) I either should have gone back to re-read book one or I would have benefited by a lead in.
I found myself annoyed with Lenah most of the time. She was either angsty about the fact that she couldn't be with Rhode and then was using Justin. I loved Vicken but again, felt like I shouldn't have due to what happened in book one.
Overall the story focuses on Lenah, Vicken, and Rhode trying to figure out what to do about Odette (another vampire that was created by Lenah over 100 years ago). Odette came to Lovers Bay because of the power she felt when the the group performed the magic needed to turn them human. She is now attacking/killing people around Lenah in the hopes it will get her to give her the information on the ritual.
There is a lot of fighting and death in this book. Eventually Lenah realizes what needs to be done to resolve the problems she has brought upon the school as well as fix the wrongs she committed over the last 500+ years....including Vicken and Rhode. I did enjoy the relationship/friendship that Lenah had with Vicken in this book - he was very protective of her and it created an interesting dynamic.
The epilogue does open up the door for a third book and I would be curious to see how it plays out with Rhode and his search for "her".

Bridges does a great job of combining Russian aristocracy/history with the paranormal. Katiya's world is a mix of ballets and balls as well as werewolves, blood drinkers, faeries, zombies and magic. The fact that it all takes place in 19th Century Russia is what makes it different.
This book picks up pretty much where the last one left off. George and Katiya are in love but for many reasons, decide to keep things quiet. Because of her blood bond with Danilo, Katiya still has him in her head which creates some interesting conversations. Along with all of that, the Tsar and his family are still in danger and Katiya's powers are still something she isn't fully in control of.
I do hope we get to learn more about the blood bond as well as Katiya's powers of necromancy. This book didn't spend a lot of time on either and if anything, that is where I wished there were more. Perhaps with the invitation from the doctor to train/learn from him, Katiya will learn more about herself and her power.
I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the next book. I am curious to see what is going on with George as well as how things progress with Katiya - both the relationship as well as her goal to attend medical school. With the added twist of what happens at the end of the book (no spoilers), the next book should prove to have more hurdles for both Katiya and George to jump and I am curious to see if Danilo is able to get out of the mess he has created for himself.

4.5 stars.
Loved this book and still include this as one of my favorite series. There were some minor editing issues but other than that - loved it.
I won't go into the details other than to say there is a lot of action - both fighting and other good stuff. The gods come out in this one and it focuses on Alex's coming Awakening.
I will summarize the love triangle by saying that Aiden gets all the swoons and love while Seth is deserving of a kick/punch in the junk.
Based on the ending, really looking forward to the next book in the series - although I'm not sure I am going to be able to be patient enough. I will be hunting down Elixir quickly but will be anxiously awaiting the next full book to see what happens next.

Aiden's POV post Deity...I don't have any words for how much I love him.
I will have a lesson in patience as I wait for the next book.

4-4.5 stars for me on this one.
I had read the first book along with a rash of other books so I had to do a book 1 recap before starting it with my sister just to make sure I remembered what happened.
This book dives right into the reunion between Aria and Perry which was lovely. I love these characters together and I'm not going to lie, there were times where I felt Rossi was introducing other characters as potential love interests just to create additional angst....my first thought at that potential wrinkle was a big, fat "NO WAY".
There is so much going on in this book and it feels like there is a lot because of the switching point of views. Not only is there the reunion between Perry and Aria but once that happens, we find there are some bigger things going on. Aria in on a path to find the Still Blue and to do that she needs to go to Sable. Hess is pretty much forcing this to happen due to the fact that he still has Talon and she wants to do what she can to help get Talon back to Perry.
Perry is now Blood Lord of the Tides and coming to terms with what that means. He has limits placed on what he can/can't and should/shouldn't do. He also is trying to figure out how to make the right decisions for the clan...some of the people respect him and others don't. Because of that, there is a lot of tension when Aria returns to the Tides with Perry.
I won't go into all of the details of the book but the characters are still wonderfully developed. Perry is still the protective, swoony boy but he has so much more responsibility. He struggles with his role and the decisions he has to make. Aria is a slightly tougher version of who she was in the last book and I like that about her. Roar is another great character. He continues to love Liv and the friendship he and Aria have is so important to both of them. Soren is back but in a different way and although he isn't a favorite of mine, I have a feeling he may begin to redeem himself.
I really enjoyed this book. The fact that I was unable to put this one down and now need to be patient for the next one can speak to that. I am very interested to see how things go in the next book - I won't mention any spoilers here but once you hit the end of this book, you will know what I mean.
