So I am going to try to review this without giving anything away. I really liked this book and would up the stars to 4.5 if I could (hint, hint Goodreads).

Ok - Aria is the main character and wakes up from an overdose of stic not remembering that she has fallen in love with one of her family's biggest enemies...Thomas Foster. There is definitely a Romeo and Juliet feeling to the story...however, Aria's family seems to embrace the relationship and they band together to create a more powerful partnership. There are a bunch of other things going on with this part of the story but I don't want to give anything away. Enter Hunter and Turk - both are unregistered Mystics and rebels. This is all I really want to say about the actual story as I don't want to give anything away.

With that said, I did like a number of the characters in this book...I also was annoyed with some. Hunter and Turk are my favorites...I don't know that we got enough time with either of them (in my opinion) and I am hoping that is resolved at a future time. Aria and her friends bothered me. First, I just wanted Aria to figure it out already...It felt like her not getting what was going on was drawn out too long - I kept wondering why she wasn't connecting things. Her friends were just plain annoying - maybe that fits based on the breakdown of the societies in the book but ugh - I didn't like Kiki at all.

I was definitely interested in learning more about Aria's brother too - I feel like there is a story there and am curious. We didn't get to see a lot of what was going on with him but there was definitely something.

All in all, this was a very good read. I couldn't seem to put it down and I enjoyed how Lawrence was able to deconstruct NYC into levels. If you enjoy dystopian, angst and a little bit of paranormal, you will enjoy this book.

This was a quick read and gave a glimpse into Celaena prior to Throne of Glass. I enjoyed seeing some of the back story and how her relationship with Sam started. It was also interesting to see her character starting point. She is still tough and strong...perhaps more than a little rash and definitely has a lot of arrogance.

Looking forward to reading the other books in the series here...it has been a nice preview into who Celaena is.

This story picks up shortly after the first book left off.

The main characters are Nora, Bram and their crew of friends and family. There is still a war going on between the Punks and the New Victorians but there are other things going on. Zombies are living among the humans and there is a new strain of the Laz which has everyone worried. There are other things happening as well, groups of vigilantes are attacking zombies and all of these things are creating some very strained relations.

As always, the characters are typically the most important thing for me and as I found with the first book, I still loved all of the characters here and was introduced to some new ones to like as well.

First, the relationship between Nora and Bram has progressed and it works. He loves her and is still super protective but he understands she still needs her freedom and trusts her to take care of herself. Nora is smart and loyal and truly cares for everyone around her.

The other characters are very much the same to those we were introduced to in the first book but there were some new one's added to the list. Michael is still an idiot/jerk and I'm still torn on how I feel about Vespertine Mink but we learn more about both of them in this book. Pamela is still an important character and she took a bit of a hit mentally and seems to be having a hard time adjusting to a world where it is normal for zombies to be out on the street. I felt a little bad for her and the fact that she felt she couldn't tell her parents she needed help. I was happy to see the interaction between Pamela and Col/Lord Lopez. I hope that goes somewhere.

Tom, Chas, Coalhouse and Ren are still here along with a number of the other zombies - I was glad everyone still had a place in the story.

Again, there are a lot of switching pov's - It seemed a bit distracting this time around because again, I really wanted to focus on Bram and Nora. I will say, each chapter and pov is important and I probably wouldn't have learned some of the things I did if they weren't there so I can't fault this.

Overall - great story and I am looking forward to the next book. I am curious to see what happens with Michael and his father as well as Nora and Bram. Considering how this story left off for the two of them, I want to know what they tell everyone (if they do) and what's in store for them. Plus....zombies. :)

4.5 stars on this one.

It was so interesting to read Decker's experience of when Delaney fell through the ice and how the following six days flowed. The way Miranda writes this was gripping. Obviously we didn't get any of that in the original story because it focuses on things from Delaney's perspective but I am so glad this was written. It is clear Decker feels responsible and although there was a sense of this in Fracture, it is the focus of this story.

Definitely a must read if you read Fracture and special bonus - it was free via the facebook link listed on Goodreads.

True rating on this would probably be 3.5 stars.

This story is about Delaney Maxwell. Turns out she was crossing a frozen lake with her friend Decker and ended up falling in. Delaney ends up being underwater for 11 minutes and is dead when she is brought up and taken to the hospital. She is brought back and in a coma for 6 days and miraculously wakes up.

I found Delaney as a character somewhat frustrating. I wanted to like her - I didn't not like her but there were times in the story where I was seriously questioning her ability to make decisions. I could feel her struggling with the fact that she was alive and what she was supposed to do with this new ability she had. I had a love/hate relationship with both Decker and Troy. There were times where I wanted to just shake them but they were both great characters in my opinion. The group of friends were another story (Janna, Tara, Justin, Kevin). The way they treated Delaney at the end was something else and while I understand the idea that someone would question how things ended, I can't believe that Decker would be ok with the way things went down between them all based on his feelings for Delaney.

Overall, I really liked the premise of this book and am curious to see where the next one goes. It was a quick read and had a good story.

Quick read and intro to some characters in The Siren.
