This was a quick read and the plot is interesting. It puts a slight spin on the typical vampire books you read with the introduction of the conduits.

With that said, I struggled with this book. I didn't really care for the main character, Kira. At times she came off as annoying and pushy...I found myself somewhat put off by her personality. The other characters in the story (Luke and Tristan) were interesting and I appreciated getting the back stories on both.

At times I found the story somewhat choppy and although it was implied, I felt like the relationship that was happening between Tristan and Kira was rushed and we missed out on something. It seemed as if they just jumped into the I love you's and we just were given the 50,000 foot view of how they got there.

It was nice that the preview of the next book was included here - I am interested to see what happens and will add it to my to read shelf out of curiosity.

I grabbed this book after seeing a quote from the author in my twitter feed and found myself loving the cover. It fits Sebastian perfectly. The fact that he wears Vans, has an eyebrow ring, plays guitar and makes a Dawson's Creek reference all within the first chapter had me hooked. Sebastian comes off as a cocky 17 year old guy and at first I wondered if I would truly like him but I did. Once I got past all the player crap he pulled it was apparent he truly cared for his mother and his group of friends. He was just an idiot sometimes (but really, who can say at 17 they never did something stupid?). He also called himself out on things - I love how he makes fun of himself for continuing to use the term "BFF".

It was nice to see the relationships in the book. Not only the one between Sebastian and Aspen. I love the interactions between all of the friends (Jaden, Pris, Aspen, and Sebastian). I also enjoyed reading it from Sebastian's perspective. It isn't often that I get to read a story told from the boy's point of view and I think it was done well.

The other piece to the book I enjoyed was the conversations Sebastian had with his mom. They were very honest with each other and I'm glad she was forthcoming enough to acknowledge and discuss how her past relationships had an impact on how Sebastian looked at relationships.

Very cute and quick read. It would be interesting to learn about Pris and Jayden's story (based on the ending) as it was clear something was going on. Since this was Sebastian's story I get why it wasn't there but it would be interesting to get the back story.

True rating would be 3.5 if GR would allow.

I love this book and it will forever be on my read over and over shelf.

The characters are what make this story. Every last one of them is just trying to live life...they are real. I loved Eddie. She was supportive and fun. Maybe a little crazy but i loved her. I have no words about Will...from the first date with Layken i was caught. He is the right mix of responsible adult and swoony boy. I never considered myself big into poetry but was moved by the pieces within the story. I absolutely believe that music can tell a story and the fact that Hoover ties the music of The Avett Brothers into the book is perfect.

I will be diving into the next book as soon as I finish this review. I recommend this for anyone who loves a good story, some angst, and swoon.

4.5 out of 5 stars. Quick read and I enjoyed it.

I liked the characters and there was actually a story here. Tyler/Van has a complicated past and Evie is in a current state of just getting by. Evie has an abusive father and Van is exactly what she needed to realize there is more than just following her father's rules and putting up with the way he treats her.

I liked that she came off as the aggressor (or at least the one to push for more) more often than not - it just fit. He was the one trying to insert more than just the physical into their relationship. Van appeared to be a rough/tough guy but he wasn't really once she got to know him. His tattoos served a purpose in his life and meant something to him. He also tended to keep people at a distance but Evie was different for him. He also had some of the best lines in the book.

Great story!

This was an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast.

There were some elements of the story I enjoyed and others I wish had more detail. The characters were interesting but with the story being so short, we weren't given a lot of background/insight into who they really were. I also wish we would have gotten more information surrounding Bee's relationship with her father. It was mentioned that she felt her father wasn't really her father but that was it. I would have liked to understand the reasoning behind that as well as why her mother left. I would have also liked to know more about Robert and Marian since their relationship was integral to the story.

Overall, the story was good. I liked that the mirror was a passageway into the Fae Lands. It added a twist to the standard Beauty and the Beast story. I also enjoyed the origami magic and am glad Bee finally put the pieces together on how to get out.

Overall it was a cute story and a quick read.
