Improper by Darcy Burke is the first of a new series and if you haven't read her books before, you should definitely pick one up. This one had a solid story but for some reason I didn't connect well with the characters. I thought Tobias was great but Fiona got on my nerves a bit. I completely understand her desire to not be forced into marriage without experiencing more of life but for some reason she came off as a bit annoying.

Overall, I enjoy Burkes stories and although this one didn't necessarily click for me, I will still be checking out the next book in this series.

The Promised Queen is the final book in the Forgotten Empires series by Jeffe Kennedy and I'm happy with the way this one wrapped up. If you haven't checked this series out yet, you should consider picking it up.

This book picks up where book 2 left off and without giving any spoilers, Con and Lia have a bit to work through. As they work to figure out what they need to do to save Calanthe and stop Emperor Anure and his wizards, they have to learn to trust each other. As they figure out how to navigate their relationship alongside all of the other challenges they are facing, they start to determine what is important and that they truly can rely on each other.

If you're looking for an adult fantasy series I recommend picking this up. I look forward to the Kennedy's next book!

Anna Bradley is a fairly new to me author and i have to say that I've really enjoyed her books! As soon as I saw The Virgin Who Humbled Lord Haslemere on Netgalley I immediately requested. This series is great and I have loved each book I've read so far.

This book follows Georgiana and Benedict and it was great to see things pick up between them from book 2 of this series. where they were introduced. When they run into each other again, there's definitely some tension due to the fact that she's chasing down some girls from the school and he's a bit tipsy but has been entertaining them. I honestly loved their reintroduction and the rest of the story kept me turning the pages.

If you're looking for a great historical romance series to pick up, consider these. The characters are well developed and their stories keep me interested until the very end.

This is the first book I've read by Melissa Eskue Ousley but I hope it won't be the last. Constellations of Scars was definitely unique - it's about a girl, Amelia, who when she turns 12, she starts to grow pearls out of her back. After finding this out, her mother basically makes her a prisoner in her home.

When Amelia decides she isn't ok with how her mother is treating her, she starts to plan a way to escape and when she finally does, things change quickly for her. Amelia has led a sheltered life so now that she is out in the world, she has to learn quickly how to survive. When she meets a new family and becomes intertwined in their lives, she truly finds out just how dangerous things can get.

Overall, this was an interesting book. I can't quite compare it to anything I've read mostly because it is so out there in terms of Amelia's history and what happens to her but if you're looking for a book with a unique story, consider picking this one up.

The second I started this book I knew it was going to be enjoyable...it was such a different type of historical romance that I just couldn't put it down and I loved every second of it.

Cecilia Bassingwaite isn't your typical Victorian lady. She is a member of the Wisteria Society crime sorority and alongside her aunt and other members, she steals and blackmails to obtain treasure...and a place within the Society. Ned Lightbourne is an assassin who is contracted to kill Cecilia but he has other plans...he also has some secrets that come to light throughout the book but I'm not going to tell you any of that because that makes the story even more interesting.

I loved the way Cecilia and Ned were with each other. There was plenty of banter and some swoony bits that made this about more than a group of women who fly around in houses and try to avoid the man/men who are out to kill them.

If you're looking for a story that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next and what new, odd thing might occur, definitely consider picking this book up. It was highly entertaining and I'll definitely be looking forward to more from India Holton!

Emma Gately has been betrothed to the Earl of Scarsdale since they were children. Having been introduced to both in book one, it was great to get to learn more about these two characters and how their betrothal occurred. As Emma becomes more involved in the Society, she realizes she deserves more and just before they are to get married, Emma calls off the betrothal. After not really being invested in the upcoming marriage, Charles is hit hard by Emma's decision and becomes determined to win her back.

While these two characters work through their conflicting feelings and desires, they come to realize they really are a match and eventually find their way. I do think you'll need to read book one of this series before picking this one up only because of the various characters involved in the story and to understand the origination of the Society. I'm not sure it would have been clear to me if I hadn't gotten that baseline before diving into this book.

Definitely consider picking up this series and this book if you're looking for a story with strong characters and an interesting story.

An Extraordinary Lord is book three of the Lords of the Armory series by Anna Harrington and if you haven't started this series, you definitely should. I recommend starting with book one before diving in because there is a storyline that is threaded throughout all of these books and if you pick this one up first, you are going to miss some critical points of the story. With that said, each book focuses on different characters and this one is focused on Lord Merritt Rivers and Veronica Chase who happen to be on different sides of the law.

Veronica is an interesting character. She confessed to a crime to keep her adopted brother out of prison but Merritt doesn't 100% believe she is innocent (at first) and she isn't about to go out of her way to prove herself to him. As they build an alliance to protect the people of London from the rioters, they realize how attracted they are to each other despite their supposed differences.

Definitely consider picking this series up. I look forward to the next book in the series to see what comes next for these Lords and their Ladies.

A Duke in Time by Janna MacGregor is the first book in The Widow Rules series and the first book I've read by MacGregor. I was interested to see how this one was going to go once I read the summary. I mean, three wives and no one knew until Meri, the husband, died.

While there are three wives, the main heroine of this book is Katherine Vareck. I thought she was the strongest of the three wives although I'm looking forward to reading the stories of the other two. Once Katherine finds out what Meri was up to, she is introduced to Meri's brother, Christian, the Duke of Randford. She pushes him to step in and help them all get their dowries back as well as help come up with a solution for everyone. While at first he tries to wash his hands of everything, he realizes he can't just step away.

As they Katherine and Christian work to come up with a plan for the ladies, they also come up with a plan to work together on a business venture that will help everyone. Alongside of that, they start to realize they are attracted to each other. As they both face their pasts, they have to determine what is most important to them for their futures.

I enjoyed this book and will definitely pick up more from MacGregor in the future. Consider picking this book up when you have the chance!

I have found another new author to put on my auto-buy list. I have loved both books of this series by Harper St. George and can't wait to pick up more by her. The Devil and the Heiress is book two of the The Gilded Age Heiresses series and if you haven't started these, you should pick them up.

Violet Crenshaw is doing everything she can to avoid being bargained away by her parents into a marriage she doesn't want. When she realizes she won't be able to get out of this a second time, she decides to run from London and ends up with Christian Halston, the Earl of Leigh. While he would appreciate the money that comes with a marriage to someone like Violet, Christian wants more from her. As they make their way to Scotland, Christian does everything he can to convince Violet that a marriage between them would be a good thing. I loved these two characters - not only are they strong on their own but together they were fantastic too.

If you're looking for a great series about American heiresses and the English Lords who reel them in, you should definitely consider picking this book (and book 1) up when you can. I will be looking forward to more from St. George!
