Audiobook. Cozy Japanese magical fiction book about an under the radar diner where the chef is a retired police detective who can hunt down the recipe of the client’s memory and recreate the dish. An enjoyable escape, but I do not think I need to continue the series.

Beautiful and heartbreaking sequel was just as special as the first book about Coyote Sunrise! I read this in one sitting, and smiled through my tears as Coyote starts to move through her grief and forward into new relationships.

A strange listening experience. The magical realism and dystopian mash-up felt meandering and I got frustrated until the surprise reveal. Even with that, this book could have been more powerful with a bit more focus. Still, I do think part of that wandering but is because our narrator is an 11 year old girl without the nuanced understandings that an adult has.

A beautiful (and timely for me) memoir about being a working woman with a partner, children, aging parents, and all the juggling that entails both literally and emotionally.

An excellent middle grade dystopian title for fans of Hunger Games or Divergent, but not quite ready for that level of reading. I liked that this is a stand alone title and even though some of the programming talk got a bit confusing, it kept my attention.

I love this series of a family and their adventures navigating a “new normal” after their mother and wife has died from cancer. In the first book they had an adventure with a food truck. In this next installment, they are gifted a mansion in Duluth by Mr. Peach’s Aunt Lucinda - but they need to transform it into a B&B. Each of the 3 siblings has a part in the story, but most of the happenings are for Freddy (5th gr) and Herb (3rd  gr). I can’t wait to read the next adventure!

This was a great slow-burn relationship book about 2 people who through seemingly random choices end up together in a landlord-renter situation. I enjoyed all the characters and their developments - nobody seemed to me to be one-dimensional. This was a long book with lots of of storylines, high on the relationship tension, and low on the spice.
