4.5 stars - I don't think there's ever been a book that makes me burn inside as much as this one. Did I love it? I don't even know. But what I do know is that it made me want to put my fist through a wall, and was so wonderfully written it'll be weeks before I stop thinking about it.

3 stars - I loved the concept of this book, there’s such an inherent spookiness to early 1900s wilderness (in this case the open plains of Montana), but there was so much going on that it lost the scary and seemed to flounder a bit. Ultimately it just wasn’t the direction I was hoping the story would go, but it was still an interesting read.

4.5 stars - With every book of theirs I read, I’m falling more and more in love with Ali Hazelwood’s brain. Mal and Nolan were a delight and I maybe kind of want to learn chess now??

3.5 stars - I do love a good disappeared ship story, and this was a new take for me! Sprinkled through with a solid amount of spooky, I really enjoyed this one.
