This could have been so good, but alas it didn't work for me. The pacing was a bit of a mess, it takes too long to get to know the end-game, by which time I almost lost intere. I also absolutely did not like the
redemption arc of the abusive, predatory POS that is Philippe Toussaint....
fast-paced

Excellent premise, middling execution.

Very superficial and shallow. Also verrrry repetitive, it feels like every conversation needs to happen three times. The protagonists don't really have distinct personality except one is Grieving a Good husband who Died and the other is Grieving a Bad husband who Left.

Advertised as slow burn, but they immediately fall in love and the "burn" is tepid as best.

Both main characters are Jewish, but the Jewish culture representation feels very charicatural. This may be due to the whole thing lacking any depth whatsoever.

Ideal if you need something uncomplicated to turn your brain off, provided you have a high tolerance for corny and borderline cringy dialogue.

Informative and interesting. I did lose interest for a while after the gadget was deployed, the political storyline didn't engage me as much.

The production value of the audiobook is not great: very obvious "editing in" of sentences and names, the narrator changes the pronunciation of "Oppje" halfway through... At some point I thought there were to narrators, it sounded so uneven...
reflective sad medium-paced

The suspense is there.... Most other things are not: none of the characters are remotely likeable the sideplots are weird and feel out of place.
