The thing about weddings is that they make everyone a little crazy, which made this book a roaring success. I was laughing out loud at the antics and THE EMAILS, oh the emails. The idea of a bridesmaid for hire isn't a new one, but this book had a completely original take that made me fall in love with it. If you love love, this one's for you.

OHHHH MY GOD. This book is an adorable yet heartwrenching ode to New York City and LGBTQIA+ pride that had me reeling in laughter and near-tears. I loved August and Jane's dynamic as well as the entire cast of characters that rounded out the story. The idea of being in love with someone displaced from time isn't necessarily a new one, but it felt so right for this story and novel in its own way. This book is sheer perfection.

This book is the ultimate will-they-won't-they / who's she going to pick. While personally that's not my cup of tea, I still flew through this book. The concept of checking on a character on the same day for 10 years was awesome! It went by so quickly because it's mostly dialogue and that the characters connect so well. If you're a Hallmark movie fan, this is a great pick.

To say this was my most anticipated book of the year would be wholly accurate. This is a dark scifi novel focusing on the morality of cloning, but also touching on themes of abuse and the meaning of humanity. While this book may not be everyone's cup of tea, it felt entirely like a Sarah Gailey book. If you love her books, you'll love this.

I liked the concept of this book and the writing was quite excellent, I just couldn't get behind the plot. To me it felt so similar to Once Upon a Time with the Rumbelle arc which just wasn't my cup of tea. But if you're a fairy tale lover, this may be the one for you.

This gave me all of the vibes from The Martian while still maintaining originality. We follow a mission doomed to fail and yet I kept feeling so hopeful throughout. This book is chock-full of science, math, and terrible jokes and I absolutely loved it. I'd recommend this for fans of first contact, microbiology, and science fiction as a whole.

I've seen a lot of people mentioning that The Poppy War was slow in terms of pacing, and The Dragon Republic is anything but. The pacing was incredible and managed to put an entire 16 months worth of content into a reasonable 655 pages. This book focuses more on characterizing Rin and her relationship with The Phoenix and creating twisty political intrigue in the background. Purely delectable.

The trend of me being head over heels for Rachel Lynn Solomon's books continues. This has all of the charm and humor of the previous stories while managing to discuss more serious topics like mental health and relationships. As someone with generalized anxiety disorder, her thought spirals and amplified feelings rang true to my experience. Adding in the element of a wedding planning business made everything feel more romantic and led to some hilarious moments. Overall big fan, and RLS? You made it grand.

This book is a heartwrenching tale of love and loss, paired with Brittney Morris’s trademark prose. It discusses racism, fear, and grief in ways that hit home. Alex and Isaiah have such a beautiful relationship and grow immensely through the story. Everyone needs to read this book.

I am a sucker for a Bromance Book Club book, especially one that focuses on the swoonworthy Noah. I loved the friends to lovers romance within and the Beefcake spotlight. Oh the Beefcake spotlight! Plus it didn't have those typical relationship problems that could be solved by just communicating, rather problems that stemmed from deep trauma. Plus we get that "meta-romance" experience from the book within a book which I enjoyed.
