I was really into this book at first, but as the book dragged on (yes, dragged...) I started losing interest. I finished it because I was already too far in to not quit, but I felt like it could've been improved with ~200 less pages.

That being said, it was a creepy horror book which is what I expected of it. I liked the concept and the twists and turns that were added.

It was a solid book and definitely gave me the warm-fuzzies, but I felt like it was missing something... I can't put my finger on it :\

This book was hard for me to read, I was confused, and still I rated it 5 stars??

There's an elegance to the way Muir throws us in the pool and trusts us to not drown. So I splashed my way through the book and it was WORTH it. Admittedly I didn't start "getting" things until about 60% of the way in, but it's to her credit that I was still floundering through this book.

Just.... wow.

I started out this book optimistic, but there were so many plotlines that were never followed through on. And this book would've been so much more interesting if they had...

To be fair, I may not be the ideal reader. I'm not one for a steamy romance, I started this series on the 2nd book rather than the 1st by accident, and I've personally experienced panic attacks many times. I felt as if they were somewhat romanticized here.

I can’t provide any details, lest I spoil something... but it’s a beautifully crafted mystery. I haven’t been surprised by one in awhile, but this one had some aspects that surprised me.

This book had so much potential and built up suspense to the point where I couldn't put it down... But then I felt like all of the tension slipped away. There were twists and turns, albeit most of them predictable, and I found myself unsatisfied when I finished the book. Would've been a solid 4 star pick if it hadn't biffed the landing.

This book was undeniably cute and I wasn’t disappointed at anything in it - which is super surprising in a romance novel for me. It helped that the story was centered around a scavenger hunt mixed with a game of assassin, and that the main character was a giant nerd. Basically just an adorable read overall.

As a mathematician and amateur letterer, I thought that this would be the book for me. Oops. It tended to drag and I wasn't horrendously invested, but I still finished it out. I love the ideas in the book, but I just didn't think the execution was there.

It was dark and creepy, but I just wasn't fully immersed. Good twists though.

The mystery itself was great, but I couldn't engage with the setting... I love her writing style and how she crafts a story, but I don't know if I'll continue with this story.
