I decided to listen to the audiobook despite owning the ebook. I'm glad I did. I was gripped from the beginning. I could just sit and listen with no issue.
Although I didn't like the characters it didn't lower my enjoyment of the story. But I also don't think I was supposed to like them.
I didn't really try to figure things out but I also wasn't shocked by any reveals I feel things are basically told throughout. Especially Pearl POV. Usually this would lower my rating but for some reason I could look past it here.

I was bored from the beginning. I just struggled to get into this but I had hope it would get better.
I liked that it was set with two timelines of then and now. So we discovered things bit by bit.
However I just couldn't get into this at all. It had a trope I hate of cheating for the sake of it. I say that cause I really don't think it added to the story. I get wanting to add some suspicion and suspense around George but then the reveal just felt underwhelming.
I will admit I didn't see the reveal of who he was or the final twist. But I also wasn't looking for it either.
It felt both twists and reveals came too late for me to really care.

At times this felt a little far fetched and things were too easily resolved.

This didn't work for me. It wasn't what I expected from the synopsis.
It took 25% to get to the dating game part and by then we had already met the very obvious end game love interest for Jemima.
I also felt it was too obvious where each of the girls would end up at the end.

The pact felt too slow at the beginning. I felt the plot was less about the dating game itself, which I was actually interested in, and more about the girls personal dramas. Which I wasn't interested in. The book just didn't spend enough time on the dating game part and the fun stories that could have come from it. Instead it went in a direction of showing how horrible the girls were and how they all needed to work on themselves.
The girls were all so unlikeable. It didn't help that there was no real character growth until the last chapter. I didn't care if they all ended up single.
The only character I liked was Chance. He deserved better.

Overall this was underwhelming.

Somehow I managed to read this in a day. Once I was a few pages in I just couldn't put it down. This was such an enjoyable read.
It was predictable in the sense the love interest and how everything would turn out. But I didn't mind that. This was everything I needed it to be.
The ending was a little neat. Even down to the changes happening back in London happening just as Lorna would be returning. But it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

Alice and Lorna are relatable characters. I enjoyed seeing both POVs. Alice because despite the fact she wasn't there for the childhood she still just wanted the best for them and the Island as a whole.
While Lorna I understood why she left and had to stay away. But I also felt sad for her. She missed out and her daughter missed out due to this.

This was my first Libby Page book but I definitely want to read her previous books now.
