Such a good book, not completely what i was expecting. Pleasantly surprised!
This was such an adorable book! This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for about 4 years, and I finally just got around to reading it because I felt the urge. I'm so glad that I did! If i had to find a book similar to this one I would probably say The Selection (that is solely based on me reading the synopsis for that since I haven't actually read the book yet).
Miri and Britta were my two favorite characters in this one. I liked how they were both a little bit of an outcast and became friends through that. The princess academy made for a cute setting, as did Mount Eskel. I felt like the girls acted a little immature as they were ages 14-18, but since it's a middle grade novel I let that slide! :) The small bits of romance were soooo cute! Peder and Miri were adorable together, as were Britta and Stefan!
Overall, it was a great read, and I'd recommend it to those that want a little relief from the dystopian and paranormal romance swamped books of the YA genre.

This was one of my most anticipated books of 2012, and it had so much hype surrounding it! I want to start out with some non story related stuff about this book... 1) The cover is beautiful! 2) The book trailer is really good! & 3) It's been optioned for film! This will be good...
On to the real review:
This book had a really interesting concept that was unlike many other books that I've read. It is a sci-fi, but I found myself thinking of it like a dystopian novel. My reasoning for this is that Pia is VERY BA! The fact that she is immortal has a lot to do with it but she had a really strong personality. I love how she grew as a character throughout the book after learning more about what truly happened at Little Cam. Also, if you think about it, the scientists are a bit like the governments in other dystopian novels. They're very controlling and I found it interesting how I spotted that similarity.
Other favorite characters would have to be Ami (she's so cute!!), and Aunt Harriet. I never really became attached to the other characters besides those and Pia. Although I didn't like Eio at first, he grew on me towards the end of the book.
The reason I gave this only 4 stars, was because I felt like the story was a bit slow in the beginning, and only became really really good towards 3/4 of the way through the books. That wasn't a major issue, because that ending was, well, whoah!
Overall, I really liked this one, and I'll be looking forward to more books from Jessica Khoury!

Wow! This was different than other dystopians, but I absolutely LOVED it!
This book was sooo good! I enjoyed every page, and there were never any slow parts. The story was really good, and I liked how in the government controlled areas there were realms. It was really cool how the people were always immersed in a different realm all of the time. It's a really interesting concept. The Aether was also really cool, and I'd like to learn more about the climate of this world.
The characters were all so different and I found myself enjoying reading every single one of them. My favorite character was Roar. From the moment that he came into the story I was like, "OH MY GOSH I WANT HIM TO BE REAL!" He had a great sense of humor and, well he is very, very, good looking!! Perry was a great character too, but I didn't find myself falling in love with him as much as I did Roar. Aria was a character that evolved throughout the book into someone that could really survive under the never sky.
On to the wonderful romance... Aria and Perry were ADORABLE. Although Perry wasn't my favorite guy in the book, I loved them together. Perry was so sweet and always had the chessiest, but most amazing things. Although w've never met Liv,I can tell that Roar and Liv's relationship is really romantic. I'm really excited to check out the novella with their backstory, and hopefully see more of them in the future books!
Overall, I'd reccommend this one to those that are fans of dystopian and sci-fi, with bits of romance. If you're like me, you won't be able to help but love this book! Deserves all 5/5 stars!

For those that are looking for an adorable contemporary, check this out!
This book had characters that I could relate to so closely, and I absolutely loved it!!
I knew that I had to read this one ever since I read the title. Who counld't love a title like that?! The story wasn't anything special, but the way that it was written I fell in love with it. This was a witty, light, enjoyable read.
This was a character-driven book. Without the different characters amazing personalities it would be like you walked into a high school - and then stopped. Gigi was the narrator, and I like her character the most. I found myself becoming attachted to her and her personality. Bea and Neerja played the role of side-kicks, but I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things that they said. I would have to immediately find someone I could tell the quote. On to the leading men... Will was, well, okay, a JERK. I'm sorry for all of you Will lovers out there. I must say that in the beginning, I too was a Will lover. But then in the end I got annoyed. Mike is someone that I like much, much, much, MUCH better. He was one of those guys that pretends to be really stupid, but really isn't. In the beginning I didn't like him and I thought that HE was the jerk. But as the story progressed I came to really like him, just like Gigi! They are so adorable!
Overall, Ms Strohmeyer did a wonderful job with this book! It was just the thing that I needed to read after diving full-on into an epic dystopian. I would just add that this is one for all you girls (like me) out there that are nerds and proud! :)

I devoured this book! I was first planning to purchase this book as a NOOKbook, but when I opened it up at the store, I just had to buy the physical copy. The full-paged colored illustrations, the pictures placed beautifully around the pages, and different fonts and colors made this book so pretty. Normally you see books with amazing covers, but this was just all-around gorgeous!
I read this in about three hours. I wasn't sure what to expect, because I hadn't ever read the synopsis on it before. I was surprised when I found that it had lots of humor as well as romance and fantasy. The writing style was one of the things that I loved most. At first it starts with a small part of the actual fairytale. Then it jumps perspectives to Oliver, who is in the fairytale as an actor. After his section is done it jumps to Delilah, the reader of Oliver's story. Sorry if that sounds confusing, it really isn't that confusing if you're reading it. This book has many parallels to the middle-grade book Inkheart by Cornilia Funke, but I found that I enjoyed this one more. It involves the same type of plot, where fairytale characters enter the real world, as well as the way they both ended were really similar. This was a bit more moderized and a little more YA.
My favorite character had to be Oliver. He was always being funny and made the book a light, enjoyable read. (The illustrations of him are really pretty, too!) He was my favorite both in and out of the fairytale world.
Overall, I loved it. It was a great fresh read for YA fantasy. A cute romance!

I wasn't sure what exactly this book was going to be about when I first started it. My friend had been bugging me to read this for over a year, and with the movie being released soon, I caved and read it. All that I can say is that I am so happy for my friend right now. It was an awesome book, and I am so happy that I finally picked this up!
For those of you that didn't know this is a book about witches, or as they prefered to be called, Casters. There was a lot of mystery surrounding the characters and who they really are, which made it really interesting. The main characters weren't completely sure about their powers and what they are, so you were finding out right along with them. Also, something that set this book aside from many other YA books, is that this is narrated by a guy! And this guy isn't the Caster. I loved this book for that reason also. Normally you see books narrated by the character that is the 'different' person, but this book is told from the POV of just another highschool guy.
Ethan was a character that I would be friends with. He loves to read, and is just one of those people that I'd talk to. Lena is the new girl, and she's a really intruiging character. In the beginning she's mysterious and eerie, but as Ethan (and we) get to know her, you'll come to love her.
I love how there is the perfect amount of mystery, romance, fantasy, and action. The authors did a great job writing this book, especially at the end where the narration switches to Lena for a few pages!! Overall, a GREAT book, for lovers of fantasy, and mystery! So excited to continue on with the series!!!

Thanks so much to Simon and Schuster and PulseIt for letting me read this amazing book for free!
This book was so great! I absolutely loved the world that it was set in, and the characters made for a really interesting story.
I liked this book more and more as it went on. The beginning was good, but after the Flash I came to like it much more. It was interesting to get to learn what was happening to Evie inside of her head. The visions and dreams were always very intense and exciting. I want to learn more about what Evie's Gran has to do with all of the Arcana. The story was very exciting, and I never wanted to put this down!
Evie changes a LOT throughout the story. In the beginning she's a cheerleader, popular, and very well-liked at her school. But she has secrets. She sees things and has weird dreams. Over the summer she is sent to a "rehab" type place to help her cope with being "crazy". After the Flash, you get to learn how strong she really is. Jackson was really mysterious. He came into the story quickly, but you could tell from the beginning that hewas going to have a large role in the story. Well, I must say that I was a fan of Brandon at first, but I changed over to Jackson pretty quick. Some of the things that he says and does is harsh, but you can tell that it's a tough guy cover up. Deep down he's so sweet and really cares. Mel was the comic relief of the book. She was a good best friend to Evie, and I enjoyed reading about her. Arthur creeps me out. Let me just say that I was very happy with the ending.
Just a warning for those that have difficulty with POV changes and flashbacks, etc: The POV changes a little, but pay attention to the dates before and after the Flash! I got a little confused before I figured out when things were taking place. I liked how it started and ended at Arthurs. It made me really interested in finding out how Evie reached that point in time.
Overall, I loved this book! I want to find out what happens next so badly! I mean, who wouldn't with THAT ending?!

A really cute contemporary romance! I borrowed this from the library on a whim and wasn't sure if I'd like it or not. The cover made me think that this was going to be Christmasy, but that didn't have much to do with the story.
Anyway, I did enjoy this one! Holly could be a little annoying at some points of the story, and they made it seem like she was a superfan of ReadySet, but she didn't even know Nick was the drummer at first! I found that a little odd. But, she was a funny character and I laughed a lot while reading! Nick was also a good character. I felt the story lacked character development, but it was just a quick, fun read.
Overall I enjoyed it, but it wasn't great. The story was cute, but I've read some better ones. I'd still reccomend that you read it if you're looking for a cute and funny book. This one cheered me up!

As a huge fan of TMI series, I was so excited to read this book. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one, but I was wrong. It was great!
Throughout the book we see so many familiar names, such as Magnus, the Lightwoods, the Silent Brothers and many more. I really liked that about it.
The characters were amazing. But I wouldn't expect anything less from Cassandra Clare! Tessa was a real fun one to read about. It's nice to see her grow as a person and become stronger towards the end. Will and Jem are adorable. At some points I got very very angry at Will. (Why did you do that?!?!?!?? Stop messing with her!!) I did like Jem, but I don't think he's the right guy for Tessa. I am still on team Will despite my issues with him. But those are caused by things that he keeps closed off so he must have a good reason.
The story was good not great. The ending was the part that I liked most. There were a few big reveals at the end and a major cliff-hanger that I would really like to hear more now!!
Overall, I liked this one a lot! Really good prequel to TMI!

3.5/5 stars.
I enjoyed Leviathan, but was a bit disappointed in it. Maybe I was expecting a lot because of all the great reviews and people saying that this triology is one of their favorites, or all time favorite.
To me, while reading, it seemed to be written for a younger audiance instead of YA readers. With that being said, I did enjoy the story.
Deryn was a great character to read about. I loved how she was determined and witty. Alek wasn't as fun for me to read about. I'm not totally sure why, but I wasn't a huge fan of his. The other characters really incorporated to the action parts of this book. That was one of my favorite parts of it. The airships, walkers, beasties along with the characters from opposing sides really made the book.
The idea that the ships of the Darwinists are living is a really cool concept. I liked how their side of the war were more scientifically driven, where the Clankers used machinery. It was nice to see the two sides that were so different working together towards the end of the book.
Overall, I felt a little let down with Leviathan. I really wanted to love this book, but there were just some things that kept me from that. This is the perfect book for younger teens, as well as even older middle grade readers, with a love of action and adventure!
