Oh, the famous last words of a historical romance: “A kiss couldn’t hurt anything at all.”

For fans of Bridgerton and A League of Extraordinary Women, this book is a fun, sweet, and light read. Our heroine is a bold (red-headed

Reminiscent of The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, this was a charming holiday novella taking place in the French Alps. Simone and Kyle are clearly perfect for each other, and I loved Simone’s journey reconnecting with her family and her great grandmamma’s spirit. The search for missing treasure was a fun air of mystery amongst the family drama and romance storylines. The small-town setting with the clock factory and Christmastime snow was enchanting. This is a really cute Christmas read!

In Julie Tieu's debut novel, Jasmine is working at her parents' donut shop longing for a future with a boyfriend and a job she likes. Jasmine is a sweet main character, and paired with her spicy best friend, charming crush, and honestly adorable parents, the character cast was wonderful.

While the characters are out of college, categorizing The Donut Trap as a "new adult" romance, this book gave off more of a YA vibe for me. If they were still in high school, it would've felt normal in this book. This story was a sweet one (pun intended) and great if you are looking for a lighthearted, charming read.
