A Death at Seascape House was a fun and quick mystery read, featuring librarian Jemima (Jem) Jago. While she's not a detective, her years as a librarian reading many books and learning the ins and outs of mysteries and murderers help her to find clues and sort through the mysterious killings of two people on her home island, St. Morwenna. The setting was fun, the characters were enjoyable, and this was a great first book to set up a series. I liked the friendships developed in this book, and the hints of romance that I'm sure will be further developed in future books. I did find the mystery to be pretty predictable, but it was still enjoyable. 3.5 star rating from me.

Thank you so much for the advanced copy, NetGalley and Bookouture!

Lost In The Never Woods is a dark retelling of Peter Pan - and I am here for it. Twists, suspense, secrets, and romance spin this classic story into a truly captivating young adult mystery.

The Secret Lives of Church Ladies is a 175-page collection of short stories detailing the seen and unseen lives of Black women in the church. The stories are raw and intense and show that anyone, no matter his or her role at church, can feel weighed down by religious expectations, can put up a good front, and can have a secret life while still maintaining a good image.

This is a necessary narrative that is really well done and like nothing I’ve read before. I’ve also heard that the audio is fantastic! Note that a lot of the stories revolve around sexual relationships and are very frank - which I did not expect when getting into this one. It makes sense and adds to the mood, but wanted to give that warning!
