One of my favorite characters from classic literature is Lady Macbeth, so I was PUMPED to receive this gifted copy of Queen Hereafter. Remember reading Macbeth? She's the one who manipulated Macbeth into killing Duncan and is associated with being anti-mother and a witch. She also has a famous "Out, damned spot!" line. Anyway, I enjoyed Queen Hereafter to revisit my time in Macbeth. The medieval Scotland setting was wonderful and I loved the fiery determination of Gruoch, who stars in our Lady Macbeth retelling.

“It was a smile like a fairytale, part villain, part hero, part impossible ever after.”

Sad romance is one of my absolute favorite genres, and Guy's Girl falls directly into that category. Ginny struggles with eating disorders her whole life, and since the author drew on her own experiences, this storyline was absolutely perfect. I haven't personally struggled with this, but heard from a few friends who read that it was done well, and I learned a lot and related heavily to the "not happy with your body" / body dysmorphia piece. The romance between Ginny and Adrian was a lot of skirting around each other for their entire friendship / relationship. It's definitely a slow burn, but I like that Adrian's character had a lot of depth and we got a look into his past as well. I really loved the last 25% and how everything ended up. Honestly, I think this is one that will come back to my mind for awhile after finishing, as there's quite a bit to unpack. This is perfect for anyone who's ever felt like they're not enough.

A cute love story and my first Indigenous romance. While I enjoyed the main characters and liked the archeology dig storyline, this was a pretty surface level read and I think a little more depth would’ve gone a long way!

"It happened because, five hundred years ago, a boy wore a crown-- had every abundance in the world-- but always asked for MORE."
What an absolutely perfect sequel. Not only did Rachel Gillig deliver action, adventure, and a satisfying conclusion, she gave us IONE AND ELM. And ohhh my goodness did I love their romance so much. Ione is the perfect, fiery female MC and Elm is top-tier book boyfriend material. "I'd be your King, but always your servant. Never your keeper." MELT. I absolutely loved the arcs of every single character in this book and can't recommend it enough.
