Maybe this requires a certain mood, I don't know, but I was pretty much bored. It started to get more interesting towards the end with all those shrinked heads but the way it was written just wasn't mind blowing, only dry.

The story was pretty bland but otherwise this saved my miserable autumn afternoon. I was soaking wet when I dropped by in the library. I ended up picking this from the shelf and read it in one sitting. That little moment in the corner transported me into sweet French summer. Colette knows how to write in a simple yet beautiful way. If the story doesn't hit you, at least you're able to imagine the surroundings it is set in.

Loved the setting, liked the story. I can't help it but the few lines about Colette in the book jacket made me interested in her more than her books. I will try the others someday but first let me get that biography.
