Yaaaaaas.
This was exactly what I needed right now : a Grease/HSM-like story about two boys finding each other again after falling in love over summer.
Every character had depth and was interesting in one way or another. The relationships, not just between Ollie and Will but also between everyone in the friend group AND with family.. were well done too!
Altogether, despite some seriously heavy topics (cancer, homophobia, [internal]biphobia, death of a loved one), it still ended up being a story that made me feel really happy when reading. Maybe cause the characters are really likeable and their journeys touching in many ways.

Well this was a pretty good book to read about girls stuck in quarantine on an island, trying to understand why exactly they're all falling ill and going crazy... (good timing, Eloise, godtiming...)

Rereading this after years of not having read it was such a good idea.
Feels like going home.

I've been bored by most of the YA Fantasy I've tried in the last couple of years... But this one stands out as a pretty good, well-written, well-crafted story.
The characters are interesting (and the f/f ennemies-to-kinda-lovers slow burn was gooood!), but for once it's the story that kept me glued to the book, wanting to learn more about all the mysteries this world had to offer.

I'm now realising how different the pace is beween the book and the movies... But I loved reading how this book went into more depth about the wizarding world AND Hogwarts!

“A home isn’t always the house we live in. It’s also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.”

4.5 / 5 stars
I have loved TJ Klune's books for a while now, but this one seems to be on a whole different level. The writing was impressively witty and fun but filled, as always with this author, with heart and emotion.

I dare say this: I bet we could love them even more.
I wish this could be a series of books because i feel like there is still so much to learn about the House in the Ceruluean Sea, and the dysfunctional found-family that lives there.

Is this one everyone's favourite? Cause it's clearly mine (so far).
- The Marauders
- Harry's SASS
- CROOKSHANKS
- Time turniiiin'
- Lupin & Sirius' intro
- The trio's boooond!

And so.. the dark days begin.
I loved all the small things in this book i'd forgotten about : winky, hermione's fight to help house elves, the twins' start in the business world, and most of all just how good and nice Dumbledore actually is in the books.

2.5 / 5
What I love bout Patrick Ness is that his books are always unique. The writing is beautiful and you know you're reading a book that's unlike anything you've ever read before.
Burn is no different.

We follow a biracial girl in the 1950's dealing with racist cops, the fear of a third World War, her secret relationship with her asian best friend, and a big bue dragon arriving on her farm, announcing a teenage assassin and dragon-worshiper is on the loose.
But we also follow so much more than one girl's journey.

Despite so many good ideas and nice writing, there was just a little too much going on for me.
It went from a slow-paced first 100 pages to a continuation of twists and turns that actually lead me to wonder what was going on (I coudn't quite believe so many big twists could happen in such a short time).
There was such a shift between the first part and the second that I felt disconnected to the story I started reading (though this might appeal to many readers).

Even though I fully appreciated reading about a diverse group of characters (with such good rep!), I really wanted to care more about them than I did. And I strongly believe that is because there is so much happening from loads of different perspectives that in the end, our "mains" don't really shine as much as they could have.

DAAMN. That was good.
Everything about this book was perfect.
