This was the nice, sweet and fun f/f royal romance I needed.
I kinda wanted more at the end though.

This story was soft and deep and comforting at the same time.
You get a bit of lovely sweet romance, but mostly you get family dynamics, abusive parents, a rekindling of a sibling relationship, friendship, dealing with anxiety and depression, and most importantly finding people with whom you can live your true self without fear.

At times I kind of wanted a little more out of a few things. If I'm being completely honest, I almost felt like the gender identity wasn't developed enough? But at the same time I think I appreciate the fact that not everything had to be explained like a textbook. Things just were. There is no need for pages of explanation about their feelings and how they express their identity.
It is clearly a book written by a non binary person about a non binary person written first and foremost for non binary people to give them their own story and to show that they can find their happiness and their family, they can be who they are without being forced into silence and discretion.

I was personally extremely touched by the relationship between Ben and their sister. Seeing how they dealt with their parents was, particularly at the moment, very touching to me on a personal level.
Blood doesn't mean you have to forgive everything. You are allowed to seperate yourself from toxic people with whom you cannot live your full self. You can choose your real family.
Thank you.

Very sweet.
Great to hear voices like Amina's, especially in middle grade books.

Poetry collection about growing up as a Pakistani Muslim woman in America.
Pretty powerful.

4.5 ~ Lovely to read about an autistic main character and another with severe depression and anxiety. The way they are great for each other and how they figure out the flaws in their relationship in order to make it work really is fascinating.

Obviously this book is full of heart.
The handling of the mental health issues was very touching.
Remember: There is no normal. And you should accept that you are unique and that makes you beautiful.

* 2019 TALK:
I'm not going to rant anymore around this book. Rereading it was actually more enjoyable than the first time reading it 3 years ago. I must have been in a bad mood cause Tory can actually be very relatable even though she's annoying. She's a true angsty and depressed teen.

WHAT I WILL TALK ABOUT: Is Alice Oseman.
Please please please go read all of Alice's other stories. They are beautiful, wholesome, heartfelt, have great rep of all kinds and depict teens in the most realistic way EVER!
- Please read the (web)comic Heartstopper where two boys (Tory's brother Charlie and his now bf Nick) meet and fall in love (with topics surrounding identity, mental health, eating disorders).
- I Was Born For This depicts the good and the bad of fandom, obsessing over a band, being in a successful band when you have anxiety, and friendship (with a muslim MC and a trans MC + other types of rep).
- Then, of course, you have my fave : Radio Silence. Platonic soulmates dealing with the fear of university, expectations, art, making a webcomic together and friendship. FRIENDSHIP!

* 2016 REVIEW : 2.5 /5
I felt connected to multiple aspects of this story which allowed me to finish this book. However it was very difficult to appreciate a story when the main character and narrator hates everything so much. I really wonder how people around her actually liked her... Also, how can we be interested in the mystery part of the plot of Tory herself isn't?

The title is perfect.
These two are so soft and their relationship is the Softesst Softness in Softland.

Well this was beautiful and wholesome.
Imagine Pokemon but even cuter. Softer. Pure goodness and sweetness.
Adorable cuddly dragons whose leaves can make tea.

The story is cute, the characters adorable and the art.. Oh the art.
I was left wanting more. But what we got was already wonderful.

Queer witches trying to stay alive when someone seems to be targetting them. Hell yeah it was awesome!!
The characters were perfeclty imperfect and I loved how complex all the relationships were. It felt so real, so possible.
Would i have loved to know more about the witchery aspects? Yeah. But that doesn't take away from how entertaining this book is.
