This book is beautiful. A beautiful story and beautiful writing. I was engaged the whole time, and I just can’t find the right words to describe how amazing this book is.

Wow… I’m just so sad this was disappointing. I really didn’t understand the world and the magic system. I wish it had more depth but everything was lackluster.

It took me a little bit to get into this book. I mostly did not understand what was happening, and I was lost a couple of times. It started to get good half way in and I did not expect that ending at all!! I’m furious with what happened, and I can’t wait to read the second book!

The book was slow at first but that’s not unusual for a fantasy book. It definitely picks up once you’re 75% in! I devoured it after getting through the slow world building. I was lost in the beginning, but I think that was the point. The whole Ascension thing was supposed to be unknown because even Poppy didn’t know much about it. They explain what it truly is later on, and it makes sense why she didn’t know much about it. I very much enjoyed this and will read more.

Wow TJ Klune does not disappoint! I was tearing up at the end not gonna lie. This is my third TJ Klune book, and I need more like this. It was a wonderful read!
