This was ok. I’m a little disappointed because I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. The story wasn’t very scary and the main character was VERY annoying. What bothered me about this book was the fact that she’s still not over her childhood sweetheart. Like that happened over a decade ago? How have you not moved on??? The twist wasn’t exciting either. I felt nothing reading this book.

I actually was unsure about this book and only picked it up because of the cannibalism plot. This book was deeper than that and the MC is the perfect allegory of how we are when it comes to eating meat. He hated how the heads were treated in the slaughterhouse and how the other people saw them as just a piece of meat. At the end of the day, there was nothing he could do to change the way society lived and he used his female and got rid of her as soon as he was done. Just like how humans take care of livestock because we need something from them. This was a crazy book.

4.5⭐️ I was immediately hooked to the characters. I felt their pain and everything they went through. The author did a great job switching POVs flawlessly, and I thought her writing was beautiful. Sometimes with new authors I feel as if they try really hard to sound academic that the book ends up feeling like a giant thesaurus.
The main plot of the book is that these three women are connected and living in different times each of them experiencing abuse from the men in their lives. There are a lot of triggers in this book which I knew coming in because I Google books. My only problem with this book is that one of the few good men in the book, Graham, I felt was treated harshly. The line “But Graham was— or would soon become—a man. A good man, but a man all the same.” If it weren’t for this line the book would have been better for me.

This is my first 1⭐️ rating of a book. Maybe I just didn’t get it, but I don’t care enough to understand it. I wasted my time enough.

What a wild ride! I wasn’t expecting the villain in this book to be a doll. It was a little slow at first and I hated Mark. The family was cursed with many secrets. When I found out that it was Freddie all along I got pretty sad. A young boy that was never put into rest and was haunting a doll. This is my first Hendrix book and I really enjoyed this one!

The book had an original plot. I was really excited about the story and the theme of it. I enjoyed the past story a lot more than the present day one. I was confused for what was going on at first. I sympathized with the main character and what she was willing to do for her child. She was really the only one I liked in the book.

I took my time reading this book. It was slow at first like any fantasy book, but I really enjoyed the characters. Orca and Varg for the most part. Elvar didn’t relate to me until almost 75% in. The last part of the book is when everything picked up and omg I loved it! I read this book because of the dragon in the cover and I was excited to see the dragon and how badass the dragon was. The last part of the book also showed more magical creatures and this is why I love fantasy books.
